Shot of the hockey player is immense. Is it in the UK? Looks like Bracknell's kit, but I don't know a player called Trimble?

Sheffield Geographer with medic flatmates :) Cheers, I've only really started taking photography seriously in the last few months, every sports photo on there is taken this year.

They're all from the University of Sheffield vs Sheffield Hallam varsity game, black and gold are Uni of colours and I believe that guy's the captain

Really nice website JT. The navigation is nice and there's no clutter in the way of the photos, which are great.
Quite happy with this:

Your photos are great, clearly got a eye for a good photo. As you are currently a student you'll only get better with more experience.
So regarding website: Good layout, though sometime the pictures take a little while to load (might just be the website build and/or my internet). Looks clean on mobile too, and people forget how important that is.
Photostories good, but I wouldn't have more than one photo from each in your portfolio section. Don't want too much repeated content.
Trim your cycling section to 12-15 shots. Great images but there are a few that are very similar (e.g front on mountain bikes).
Add more to your landscape section. Three isn't enough, maybe turn one colour and add some urban landscape (shouldn't be to hard to bang out a few nighttime wide long exposures), or whatever interests you.
Set your email so it's not yahoo, and something like contact@samtaylorphoto.co.uk (you should still be able to use yahoo as a base, my photo@benbroomfield.com is all run via gmail).
About section, good showing you are action man ;-) and understand your action subjects, though I'd edit your picture a bit try it in B&W. I wouldn't mention you are a student, but it's up to you. You mention you can buy pictures. Make life easier to your customers by uploading your photos to a pic library (such as picfair, but whatever you like), and link to it.Oh and that blue wave photo. It's nice, but it is currently the front page image on your site for "sports". It doesn't scream sports, just pretty colours. Use the flag hockey player or the swimmer head instead.
Great piece of advice I was given recently regarding website curation. "Don't just put your best photos on the site. Put the type of photos you want to take".

"website curation". You should be ashamed of yourself , Ben.

Ah I hadn't seen the other two hockey shots, just the black and yellow skater, as your site doesn't seem to agree with the crappy IE running on my work PC, but I got there eventually! Beautiful shots regardless. I thought it might have been a Sheffield Steeldogs game and was just curious as you hardly see any coverage of British Ice Hockey, let alone lower leagues.

Thanks for the detailed feedback Ben!

Will do, sort of thought about that but should have considered it more

I agree with this, just felt like I had to pad it out a bit I guess, all those photos are taken within the same week give or take so I don't have that much work to show at the moment.

I've got pretty much no experience taking landscapes but it's definitely something I'd like to get into over the summer, urban stuff is a good suggestion too, I might have some stuff I can add in the meantime...

Tried to set this up when I sorted the website but didn't really have time (exam season at the moment). I'll get it sorted in the next few weeks.

Good shout, I'll have a look into that

Another good point, I'll change that. It's just that I wanted to show how I look at sports, capturing the feeling of the moment and movement rather than your bog standard shot, but then its perhaps not best suited as the cover photo.

It's the first and only time I've shot Ice Hockey and to be honest it was a pain in the arse, didn't get a single usable shot of anyone moving through the glass but it wasn't too bad from the dugout, just had to watch out for substituting players!
*Edit - I've made a couple of changes, nothing major

How did the bike behave with all the weight up there?
-
• #6923
Better than with a semi loaded front and a fully loaded rear, I couldn't really feel at all whilst riding, if anything it made the bike more stable

Mostly agree, though I would have put a little more on the back (Carradice).
Slow speeds and especially starting out was the challenge for me when I travelled that way. -

Even my low trail was hard to steer when starting off, once I get going, it become easier.
