  • Someone might be interested in my Olympus E-3 DSLR body. See: http://www.lfgss.com/thread70091.html#post2323431

  • Do any of you guys use the sigma dp1? I'm thinking of picking up a new digital compact for a trip to Morocco and this looks great because of the large sensor.

Otherwise I think I'll just stick to a film compact and a few rolls of portra.

  • haven't used it but read good things about it. Apparently the controls are a bit odd, people either love or hate them?

Aren't they quite old now btw? Or been updated? I had a look at the Ricoh GRDIII the other day and got itchy...

I've seen someone on here use it though, but can't remember who

  • Yeah but the GRD3 is insanely expensive for what you get.

The thing which I really like the sounds of about the DP1 is the sensor size, although the lens speed could be a bit off putting.

How about the Canon compact range?

  • Only used a G9 that I really liked, but found it too bulky so sold it again in favour for my lesser good but smaller GRDI

the G series are great cameras, I just find them a touch too big to carry around

  • Arrived in Deptford for a gig at the Bird's Nest to a welcome of smoke...

  • Might as well stick this in here too . . . .

  • Took this one at work today.

Nothing particularly interesting, but there are some photos of day-to-day stuff here. All taken on a Leica D-lux 5.

  • Your work looks terrible.

  • what CYOA said

  • A few photos from a recent holiday in Malta.

  • I love those buses, they used to take the doors and windows off in the summer. I wish I could go back to malta, the photos are very evocative

  • Ok so I've narrowed it down and this camera looks great;

Olympus XZ-1 Digital Camera - Black 3 inch LCD: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

Can be had for £314 from amazon. Bigger size sensor than most compacts, shoots RAW, fast lens. Seems like a great travel/ take everywhere cam.

It's either that or the LX5.

Panasonic Lumix LX5 10.1MP Digital Camera - Black: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

  • Does anyone know the cheapest I am likely to get a 5D with a reasonable lens in decent condition second hand, and where the best place to look is?

  • http://www.mpbphotographic.co.uk/ worth keeping an eye on.

5D Mk 1s can be found easily but no one really sells Mk 2's and when they do they aint cheap! Once the Mk 3 (6D?) comes out then you might get one. If its for video work buy a 60D instead.

  • Definitions of resonable lens vary widely. 24-105mm f/4? 24mm f/2.8? 50 f/1.4?

  • i have a nice 5Dmk 1 with grip and batteries for sale.

  • It is for video work. I'd need something that can shoot 1080, and I was led to believe the 5D mk2 was almost peerless for this kind of stuff.

  • 7d is o.k and does 50fps at 1080, prefer to shoot with the 5dII though if overcranking not needed

  • The 60D and 7D have smaller chips which may not give quite as much depth of field but do have the advantage of your subject occasionally being in focus!! Get a 60D and a sigma zoom lens and it will cost you the same as a 5D Mk2 body on its own (lets you do high speed as well).

  • the 5DII (all the canons really) isn't without it's foibles though.
it's no Arri alexa that's for sure
