The street markings / furniture suddenly look more interesting too from up there.

Do more at crossings! I like how the slabs intersect a bend perfectly. It all makes sense from above.

I reckon around the Barbican would give you a great vantage point. Still never visited the place actually.

South Bank might have some vantage points. Also there's a ped bridge at Waterloo although I don't know if there's much footfall underneath it.

Sony seem to be on a roll - they just announced the a7s, a 12mp ff that does 4k video with no pixel binning or line skipping. Should have ALL THE DYNAMIC RANGE.
