To well is it: just picked up my D600 back from Fixation. They will clean the D600 bodies for as many times as you need to for as long as the offer from Nikon lasts, which they don't know how much longer this might last. We were joking that I will be back in a couple of weeks time again... let's hope not.
And the turnaround time is about 1 hr.
Despite having to drop over a grand on repairs in there recently, Fixation are the best.

Confessions of an ex gear addict: How buying cameras and lenses made me miserable and lose thousands
I hope you haven't posted that perjoratively, Ed, as I don't think I know anyone on this forum whose perceived needs re bikes and cameras change so frequently!

Fuji and Panasonic are jointly developing an organic substrate-based sensor that has - wait for it - 25 stops of dynamic range.
If this ends up in some future x-pro body then it should be interesting... -

Anyone looking to sell a compact? Thinking along the lines of a Canon s90 or a Lumix lx3.

the curse of spotty spots on my D600 has finally become a reality... only a handful of spots but I think it's about time to call the professional...
I did the 'white wall and use curves in PS' to check for oil/dust spots, and yes, there were a few. They don't show up on any images though. I was aware of the issue before I bought the cam, and it's reassuring to know that Nikon will sort it if it is a problem. but i'm not sure if the spots are because of the much discussed 'oil issue', or just dust specks from normal use. I shall monitor the situation.
What annoys me far more is the non-appearance of my 'cashback' card which was offered as an incentive to buy. I had a feeling that getting it wouldn't be quite as straightforward as advertised...

Cash back schemes take ages. Had something similar with a mac once but it will come through eventually.

Seriously considering cutting back the camera collection to just a high quality compact. Think it may force me to think more, anyone else gone though the same?
Or maybe this is just another example of GAS as mentioned in that article Edscoble linked too.
I find myself wanting to take pictures a lot more recently but no motivation too. It's a rut of sorts and I f£(king hate it.

I got my cash back card within about a month, but the slightly annoying this is it came in a prepay credit card form that you can't withdraw cash from. Worth calling either nikon or city bank to check it.

Oh I know it will come through; it's a legally binding agreement. It's just a PITA. I've rung CitiBank today, but they've now told me to ring Nikon. Which I can't do until Monday.
The card thing is a bit annoying, but apparently it's just like a debit card that you can use in shops, so that's fine. TBH I might just buy more cam kit with it anyway.

[quote]Seriously considering cutting back the camera collection to just a high quality compact.I'd like summat small yet high quality, to have when on the bike/travelling light, as the D600 is still quite chunky. I'd considered the Fuji X10, but there's a number of good options around atm.

I know, it's a prepaid credit card, but I prefer a bank transfer or cheque like what Canon does. I might just use that to put towards a handheld flash, think its about that amount after the discount from those vouchers. Did you get some vouchers for lenses and whatnot too?

Was in pretty much the same situation a few months back. Just kept buying gear and never really using it. Decided to sell it all and now my only camera is an X100. It's small so it's always with me which means I shoot more and the fixed lens forces me to think about composition which is another reason I switched. I still don't have the desire to buy a DSLR and I think the photos I have taken with the Fuji are some of my best/favourite.

This was my thinking with the 6D and the pancake - smallest (second only to the RX1) and cheapest way of doing full-frame. The lens doesn't leave the camera unless I'm filming and in those instances, the lenses aren't even mine. Basically think of it as an X100. It's small enough to never leave at home as long as you're the kind of person that always has a bag!

Very slight horizontal perspective correction should do it without making the lass look like sloth from the goonies.
ah, gotcha
