Dug-out my old super takumar 135mm and stuck it on the 450d to see if its worth using, the light was nice earlier, and yes, its worth using.

It's from Google street view. I spend a lot of time looking at street view, especially suburban USA. It's a bit of an obsession.
It's not clear if the man is putting things in or taking things out of the recycling bins. Either way his bike is pretty striking. -

You should check out the Deutsche Borse right now, Will.

I'll bet he's picking up recyclables for cash-in.

Its worth seeing; the gImages guy went from bottom of the pile to top for me, after seeing it in the gallery. Killip was great but De Middel was lost on the wall IMO. Good show though, presume Afronauts will win because of the current 'self-publish revolution' but I hope gImages guy gets it. Whenever I have seen examples of his work online it's been too close a context to gImages, in the gallery it has much more impact and most of the works are actually an animated series rather than static moments. Really enjoyed it, as you can probably tell.

been titting about with a reverse mount ring, on a 50mm.
D7000, 50mm vintage lense, reverse macro ring, £12 tripod from Aldi.

^ Nice macro shots!
Still getting used to the new camera... The viewfinder is just sooooo much better than what I was on before, its much easier to compose shots properly and quickly. The silent shutter mode is great for taking pictures of people close by without them noticing.

So new SSD in the computer lightroom runs v.v quick now. Still sits at around 3gb RAM usage if I'm processing a lot at once. May put a stick of 8GB in there and see how it fairs then.
SSD?
I ask because my ultrabook with 4GB of RAM and an old i5 runs PS Raw files pretty fine. It's possible that the speed of your HDD is slowing you down - i.e. the bottleneck might be data access as opposed to data processing
