cross post from AQA
Where could mrs_com hire 9 tripods for DSLRs for use on a project she is running. She works for Museum of London and would need them for the next 3 Wednesdays?

I'm just a happy snapper, but for those of you who work with raw images, are you familiar with this? http://www.raw-photo-processor.com/RPP/Overview.html

And, are there any users of the Ricoh GXR system here?
Opinions are obviously welcome, preferably from owners.
I don't have physical access to this rare bird (short of ordering it) and have done lots of trolling on the webs, so that aspect has been covered. I'm moving up from a Canon Elph 300 HS (Ixus 220 to most of you) and am drawn by the ergonomics/image quality/small size/ ? -

Cool, I'm not sure whether I'll ever delve into that level of fiddling with pics, but share ware would be the place to start anyway - unless I read it wrong and it's only meant to piggyback on an existing program.

just bought a Lumix LX5 (...)
..hmm, like the look of that lens!
Almost makes me want to get a proper 'digicam' again, too! -

This might not be the right place to ask, but I need advice on camera's. I want a new digital camera. I had a Canon IXUS 8015 and it was absolutely rubbish. So I want something better than a basic compact but don't want to carry around a massive SLR. What would be a happy medium, pretty small but good quality photo's?

What's your budget?
-
• #3236
sounds like you should get one of the GF1's going here, and a 20mm panasonic lens
-

What's your budget?
Not huge, I guess up to £150. But I'd rather get something cheaper second hand.

are they good? I don't really want to spend another £100 on a lense, but if the only way of getting good quality photo's is with a camera that uses changeable lenses then I guess I'll have to.

I would recommend the Canon Powershot S95, which I managed to grab last summer for £199, but now its shot up to £397.
Its an awesome camera though, used it for some photos in a architectural book coming out soon. The Powershot range is generally pretty good. -

My lumix lx3 left me plenty of change from £200 a year ago, and has been chucked in my bag most days since. Despite a year of rattling around with tools, getting soaked and generally being abused, it still takes lovely pictures. The lens is really bright at f2; it's at least as nice as what you would end up with on a system camera for a lot more money.

X20 looking good....

What about the second hand Nikon D40 Henry?
X20 looking good....
Now that it got information displayed in the viewfinder, I'm sold.

Whats wrong with a D70? They were fantastic cameras at the time. My dad still uses it all the time.

Did anyone watch the Giles Duley - Walking with the wounded last night?
One of the best documentaries I've seen for a while.

D40 is a very compact design, almost rangefinder-like if you choose to have a pancake lens.
Having said that, do they even make pancake lens?

I took all these photos with a Nikon P300 compact. I thought it was really good. Full manual control, and a wide aperature. I think it was £250ish new back in 2010. Should be pretty cheap now on ebay?

I just got a GF1 too, defo worth £250 second hand with a good lens.
