James Nachtwey in the documentary War Photographer uses a back pack - but then he has 2 cameras and doesn't seem to change lenses a lot.

Exactly.

He has a really handy hip pouch too for his films - it being pre-digital and all.

I have it on good authority that Cartier-Bresson used a wicker basket of the kind given to Victorian children for Easter egg hunts.

Capa was never seen out without a handbag.

Steve McCurry just stuffs it in his trousers.

It's a bit of a gimmick I know, but is anyone else using "blipfoto". I signed up at the beginning of Feb in an attempt to take and upload a photo a day 'til the end of the year. I don't know how I'll get on, but I'm enjoying it so far and I hope that after a few weeks it'll really challenge me to keep alert to interesting shots. Is anyone else using it, I'd be keen to follow for inspiration.
I'm here.

^ That was / is my aim with thedailylind.tumblr.com but I've had a few dips lately. Still think it's a good thing to aim for, makes you look around

Really want to shoot something like this, but I don't know how to begin to even get to places like this
Find a crane in a loosely secured construction site. Gain entry to construction site. Climb crane.

I'm trying to do it too, but sitting inside all day doesn't inspire many great photos.

Possibly a naive question, but how much of a worry is "jiggling" to a DSLR?
I want to take mine out on some of my longer runs (in my running rucksack) and I'm not fussed about weight/space etc. I just cant imagine that all the bouncing up and down can be good for the internals/optics?

Doubt it'll matter too much tbh. They've been rattling around during shipping, when you walk around holding it etc. Just have it padded / wrapped in a sweatshirt or something to calm the movements down

Dear photographers,
I need help! A friend of mine is in London at the moment. He was a colleague of mine in Paris, we worked for the same architectural firm there... He is changing career, radicaly, as he is becoming a opera singer!! He already worked professionaly as a singer in the past year and does not work as an architect anymore at the moment.
Recording studios are cheaper in London compared to Paris apparently. He took the opportunity of being in London this month to organise 3 sessions, in Crystal Palace. Already one took place last sunday. He asked me to come to take pictures. The light was very bad and my Canon G9 was giving such poor results that I ended up taking pictures with my phone!!! Very embarassing.
For the two coming dates (24th feb and 3rd march, both are sundays, in the afternoon), if one of you talended photographers wouldn't mind helping taking couple of good pictures for his website... that would be fantastic. Coffee and cake as a reward would be provided from the studio's caff.
Thanks in advance!!
Loic

Hi all, I have a digital SLR and at present I am crap with it I really need some guidance, does anyone one know of any free courses in or around London/London South, or alternatively a really good reference book that I could read that would make sense? I have a Canon 350D. Thanks!

They're fucking brilliant.
This, I really like both.

That's nice to know actually, took them a couple of years ago in Bavaria whilst doing my Duke of Edin-yah award. Top one could have done with a smooth wall I thought, nice bold colours though

Nooo. Ripple wall is what makes it!

opinions on these?
My immediate reaction on seeing them both together was that I far preferred the top one.
Then I looked at them individually, and still preferred the top one, but appreciated the bottom more.
Then I looked at the bottom one a bit longer and the door started to bother me. I get the feeling it's one of those UPVC imitation wood ones.
(I am not a talented photographer, and none of the above should be seen as a comment on the technical merits of the photos, just on my feelings about them.) -

Anyone interested in this battery?
Maxsima - LP-E5, 1600mAh Battery for Canon 450D 500D: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics
I bought this 3 weeks ago and didn't think much of it until I came to charge it this weekend. Of course, I've bought the wrong bloody battery (doesn't fit a 550D).
Brand new - £6 delivered? (paypal gift).

Also, might be of interest. Lightroom 4 has dropped to sub £70 -

Interesting. I see why it would be good with a rangefinder size, SLR, maybe a bit too big (and you'd look like a tool).
