  • I wish... £2600 for a camera that's stuck with a 35mm lens is.... for a certain type of person. If it was much, much less, I totally would.

    Holy shit, £2600! Surely the Fuji X100 is better for the money.

  • Not if you want full frame

  • Full frame is great but not entirely necessary IMHO.

  • It's not quite as silly as a Leica and has the same sensor as the Nikon d600 so it's probably a good job better too.

    What doesn't help the price is the fact it uses a leaf shutter that goes up to 1/4000th.

    The RX100 only uses a 1" sensor and is 20mp but still manages to be A LOT less noisy than the current canon 18MP APS-C.

  • The RX100 is the ultimate travel camera.

  • Nice! I'm sold.

  • Thank god I didnt sell my X100! (although still have the itch for a film rangefinder)

    Here are few from my visit to Colva beach in Goa recently, all shot on X100.

    More here

    No time to retouch or edit them for now.

  • sick!

  • This made an interesting read;

    http://www.engadget.com/2012/12/18/nikon-patents-digital-sensor-back-for-35mm-film-cameras/ Can't really see it happening myself;

  • Smart patent, doubt it'll happen.

    How much room is there between the film strip and the back on a SLR? 1mm? 2? That better a thin sensor!

    (would LOVE for this to happen though, i'd get one for sure)

  • And I'm fairly sure it'll be only for Nikon camera.

    Not that it's an issue, can see why as the brand name on the front is always the perfect advertisement.

  • Not sure if here or AQA is the best place for this post but can someone recommend a good photo-book producer?

    Years ago I tried "myphotobook" and was impressed by the end quality but I found their layout organising software infuriating this time around. I then moved to fiddling with iphoto (since I have it anyway) but while the layout seems ok it seems unexpectedly expensive.

    Any other reccomendations, especially WRT print quality, price and smoothness of design.

    Another option I haven't explored is that I think I have an old copy of Phtotoshop CSsomething that I've never used. How easy would it be to learn to produce a book using that software, and would it be easy to get it printed?

  • Hello, i need some advice or opinion please. I am set to buy a camera, and after some thought and research i have narrowed my choices down to either the Fuji X10 or the Canon G15.
    I'm aware of their respective differences, so was wondering of any of you would be kind enough to offer me opinions on them?
    Thanks

    I suggested the possibilities of this about a year ago on this very thread, and got shouted down for thinking it was a good idea [/bitter].

  • Remember that. Still doubt they'll manage to make one. Good idea though, and smart to patent it.

  • Traded my Voigtlander 25mm Snapshot Skopar for a 35mm Color Skopar and really liking it so far. Works out to about 53mm on the R-D1.

  • For what its worth fuji have a few new things in the pipe line. Particularly the x10 and x100 replacement.

    http://www.fujirumors.com/rumor-update-x-20/

  • Hadn't been keeping up to date with Fuji recently but noticed the XF1 when I was in Jessops with my old man the other day. It's rather darned nice.

  • If the X-20 have an EVF, i'll be happy as Larry.

    Very hard to get used to the X10 when you've used the great viewfinder of the X100.

  • Haven't Leica already done a back-swap conversion to switch their M-series film cameras to digital, or is this Nikon thing a different idea?

  • ^ more info please

  • Look like it may have the newer viewfinder;

    says: The X20 has a newly developed EXR CMOS lowpass-less sensor and its viewfinder can display information. [This could correspond with the information I have, that the major improvements will concern the sensor and the viewfinder.] According to Fan Fuji the X-20 will be costlier than the X-10.

    From what I can find on Google, the conversion only ever got as far as a prototype and it wasn't Leica themselves doing it. Humph. Hasselblad conversions were mentioned though...

  • Hasselblad were the only one who actually made a working digital back, but that was mainly because the advantage of those medium format SLR is the removable back;
