After reading that Majoli article multiple times I picked up an Olymous c5050. The 32mb SmartMedia card it came with only has space for 26 shots, reminded me of something. This is basically how Sunday happened for me...

Replaced my damaged Leica D-Lux 5 with an LX7. The extra features, and the faster lens are great, but it's not quite the same somehow.
Not had much of a play with it yet, but it's definitely going to suit my needs perfectly, while I'm back on the boat. One from the weekend:

I'm looking for a fairly cheap compact digital camera.
I currently have a 10 year old Sony cybershot, 7 Megapixel camera. Back then I think it was pretty good. But I don't even use it any more.
I'm know very little about photography, I pretty much only use the auto mode, I know very little about it, I just want to take some pictures for facebook, etc.
So any recommendations on what to look for, something that should take fairly good point-and-click pictures, but also not too expensive (not more than a couple of hundred quid)

I mean, i guess a direct upgrade would be something like this, £100 would be a good price for me:
Sony W690 High Zoom Compact Camera - Black 3 inch LCD: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

The Canon Elph line is good for the price too.
I like the Canon colours. -

I wish... £2600 for a camera that's stuck with a 35mm lens is.... for a certain type of person. If it was much, much less, I totally would.

Very true. That said, it's rare for my 35mm to leave any of my cameras, such a good focal length.
Want to start experimenting with a longer lens for street photography though, want to get busier more compact scenes - been inspired by Saul Leiter

RX1 has 35mm and 50mm zoomed. Only two focal lengths I ever use.

Ha, RASA Newcastle. The original RASA is my favourite restaurant in London.
