I accept my defeat :P
I wonder how the battery would perform .. -
• #2428
Squared increases in sizes look confusing, its easy to say 100% when its actually 200%. I doubt the battery life is anything out of the ordinary. It shouldn't be an issue until you start filming stuff.

• #2429
Um - it's an X100 with a slightly larger sensor, non?
and no viewfinder?
-
• #2430
Battery will be fine - even the 5d can knock out a fair few until the battery complains.
Hopefully this will make more compact FF cameras come to the market and drive the price down.
I love my 5D and Sigma DP but full frame in a hand held is awesome.

• #2431
5D banks on not using the display as a viewfinder though. If the camera has to churn out a constant live feed from the sensor I'm sure it'd drain quite soon

My poor little E-P2 with its 225mm² sensor :(
-
• #2433
Sensor size doesn't make you a better photographer.
-
• #2434
342mm^2!
On a dslr... D: -

Wondered if I could get a quick bit of advice here, if I was to sell the following as a package what price tag should I be looking to attach?
- Nikon D300S body
- Nikon 50mm 1.8
- Tamron 19-35mm
- CompactFlash 2GB
- Nikon D300S body

Ah I forgot it doesn't have a view finder.
I wonder what kind of market they are trying to get to though with no viewfinder and ff?
-
• #2440
According to photorumors.com: 'Optional optical and electronic viewfinders will be available"
To me, attaching a ovf or evf on a body always seems fragile and like a second thought, so wonder how good the camera will actually be

Those with the arm strength to hold a camera further from their body and still keep it stable?

The hybrid OVF is the main thing that sold me on the X100. It's like a fighter pilot's heads-up display - very fucking cool. I don't think I could go back to a fuzzy, dark EVF, let alone using the rear LCD to frame shots.
-
• #2443
^ +1 I dont think I use EVF ever on my X100
-
• #2444
I use it for macro (you have to, unless you set to MF and use the auto-focus button) but very little else.
Maybe the thing I love most about the X100 OVF is that you can see so far beyond the frame, making it really easy to set up shots with moving subjects. It's all just do well thought-out.

Just wondering if anyone would be interested or know someone who might be interested in a good old Canon 30D with a kit lens and a long lens (80mm - 200mm), I think... with a couple of batteries etc. Pretty good condition and have to find out shutter count but think it would most likely be on the low side as it has always been a spare camera. I am in no rush of selling it but I have bought far too many camera and lenses recently there is just simply no justifiable reason to keep it as a spare anymore. Let me know if anyone is interested and we can work out details.

D600 is official! Out next Tuesday at calumet. And yes, it uses the same sensor found in that sony^^^.
£1955

£300 more for a 800? seems like they've had a fail there.
-
• #2448
Depends what you want: the U1, U2 functions would make me go for the D600 on their own. I use them all the time on my D7000
-
• #2449
+1 but the way they price these things, they usually come down by a fair bit over time.£1500 always seemed like a pipe dream. I'll just hang on and see what replaced the 7d.

Initially, give it a few months and it will probably be nearer £500.
The difference is about 260% give or take depending on the manufacturer.
It is a big deal. Digital cameras that size have used sensors about the size of your little finger nail until fairly recently.
The x100 uses an unusual sensor with a special pixel layout that means it doesn't need an anti-aliasing filter but the benefits of a sensor twice the size should outweigh the benefits of even that.
