I'm after a wide angle lens for my GX1. Really like the Panasonic 20mm f1.7 I already have, so it's easy to think that the Pana 14mm f2.5 should be a good option?
http://www.robertwhite.co.uk/lenses/panasonic-14mm-f2-5-lumix-g-micro-four-thirds-pancake-lens.html
Is it so, or does anyone have any other recommendations?

Picked up a Ricoh GX8 the other day for £25 in Cash Converters. The sales assistant in the store had never heard of Ricoh - used it over the weekend and it's very impressive. The option of having it in my bag all the time has got me looking at those Micro four-thirds cameras again...

Help me out guys… I'm toying with the idea of a DSLR again. I have £200-250 mostly from the recent sale of a Canon S95 point-and-shoot (which has left me cameraless).
I'm not fussed about specs or features of the body, I'd like the bare minimum – something small and inexpensive with full manual controls that I could occasionally throw in bag and take out with me. I'm thinking of a Canon 1000D and the f/1.8 50mm which can be had within my budget.
I've owned a GF2/20mm in the past, loved the size but couldn't get on with the lack of viewfinder. I've also owned a 550D with f/1.4 50mm lens which I loved but both are out of my budget at the moment.
So, can recommend a nice setup for £200–250?

Soo...am thinking about selling my Canon 400D and replacing it with a Canon G12 or similar. I don't use the SLR much at all these days and was thinking that having something smaller and more mobile would be convenient and might make me take more photos, but is the loss of image quality and all the other SLR-specific stuff etc worth it?

What about a Micro four-thirds like the Panasonic GF3 or Olympus EPL1?

^ Thanks - are they a lot better than cameras like the G12?
*Googling now...

Looking for some advice on tripods - got an old ally one, beaten up but does the job. Going away for a month shooting buildings, and wondered if there were any good tripods to replace it with. Obviously I should just HTFU but ....
(It won't be overloaded with body/lense stuff, and ideally would be v.light. About £100)

^^^^^^^ jessops were doing manfrotto carbon with head for 100 last month, dont buy their ownbrand one unless its on the 60 quid deal as it has shitty clamps.
best medium weight pod for dslr (550d to 5d2 + grip weighy) is the slik pro 440dx abou 70 posted with a very good two pan head and weighs maybe 2kg. ive had mine for 3years now and its taken an insane amoubt of avuse and still goibg strong.
red snapper and "alise"? make similar pods for sinilar money. they are all equiv of a manfrotto 190 or better -

Several people on recently asking for a DSLR body. I have a D200 sitting doing nothing, so £270?
I've also got a 10.5mm fisheye which needs a good home £350 boxed.
Both for £600. And I'll throw in some goodies from my camera bag.

I didn't get Parr for quite a long time, thinking his work banal and uncreative...and in a way it is, of course, which is entirely the point.

Despite the fact that I'm not a Nikon person I must say the D200 was a bloody good camera! and that's a good price too.

The pana 14mm is great. I've tried both and bought the 14mm for my GX1. Slightly slower on the autofocus but the wide angle is great and the size is ridiculously small. You can find one on eBay for circa £115.

Nikkor 10.5mm fish? Is that the one that was about £850-900 new? came out about 2004? If so, cracking good price, and if I had anything Nikon I would buy just for the sake of it. LUSH lens, a lot of fishies do not like bright lights/ contrast/ street lamps etc, but the Nikkor 10.5 deals with it like nothing else I've seen before. Well controlled distortion too, can correct in LR3.0 quite easy (if that sort of thing bothers people).
Are martin parr and graham parr different people? Seen a few exhibitions of Grahams, and liked some of it (the dead pan, medium format documentary stuff), and felt physically repulsed by the rest (the highly saturated oddly framed grotesque shots of people at the grand national, though I think maybe that was the point?). Or maybe I'm being rubbish with names and it was Martin?

I think you're thinking of the 16mm full frame fisheye. The 10.5mm DX version costs around £500 new. I sold a used one for £400 about a year ago, so £350 is a really good price. And it is a killer lens:

Very provisional dib... I'd definitely be interested but I'm more or less broke at the moment. I'm away racing this weekend but if it's still available I could look into whether I can afford it at the beginning of next week?
Just thought I'd register an interest.

5dm3 anyone?

I just saw the price of it... but still looks one hell of a piece of kit.
The question is given the drop on the m2, is the 3 really worth it ? -

Thanks - there's a 30x20" canvas of it in this exhibition. Private view tonight for anyone who's interested.
Mr_Tom, I really like the one of the face reflected in the tuk tuk mirror. Smart.
