  • Are you training Rob, racing or both? Do you reckon there will be a big turn out with the omnium on after?

  • bit of training for me, nothing too crazy yet.

I reckon the turn out will be OK, not everyone who comes on sunday races and some will want to use it as warm up(!)

  • Fantastic session today. Really hard work, but proper satisfying. Thanks JC.

  • Grrr, rain in EC1. At least it started to tip it down just before I left. I'd called RPM to check 'how it was down there', only to get the reply, 'what, in Newport?' :D

Had a good mixed session indoors (seeing as I was all kitted up), so all is not lost.

  • I made it outside before it pissed down, got to regents park for some intervals instead. Was gutted though, need some good training. You doing the league this week Bmmf?

  • The whole of yesterday drinking fail :(

  • ^^No, I'd saved up enough annual leave to cover Wed eves from May 5th to June 9th, after which point my Wed eve shifts end for the summer. Will have to deal with loads of riders being race fit from omniums/league already :(

  • @ Mike: you didnt miss the track, unless it has dried up for the omnium, but I doubt it. I had to use a lot of will power to stay out of the beer garden all day yesterday.

@BMMF: Hopefully I'll make this Wed, but I ain t done no omniums, I'm getting more and more scared of actually racing now!!

  • Yeah track was damp until 11ish, it drys fairly quickley with a bit of heat and wind.

Omnium went on fine. Sunday training will be back in action properly next week - with no more people skipping it to save themselves for racing in the afternoon. Though they will have raced the day before for the Rollapaluza's round of Open Season next Saturday.

  • So I misjudged the weather again :-(

  • The weather's looking better for tomorrow. Will be the first Sunday session for a couple of weeks.

  • What's the plan? Worked anything out yet?

  • I know what I'm doing ;)

    Starts!

  • So who's in tomorrow?

  • Nope - got the GRPT thing later on instead.

  • I'm in. Bright n early

  • Its above the magic 10degrees so I am on my way

  • Bit of a fail for me. Got the bike ready last night, then woke up and could hardly move my legs. so rolled over and went back to sleep.

should be down i the next couple of weeks though.

  • yesterday we learnt that 4km is 8 7/8 laps of the track (start on the '2' and finish on the line).

    good ole imperial!

ended up riding with a nice bunch doing the 4km in 5'30'' or so which didn't feel too shabby. (tho slightly off world record pace)

  • Didnt realise we were being timed.

  • no official timing at HH (!) - one of the guys in our group had a computer on his bike

  • Averaging just over 27mph - not too shabby at all!

  • Averaging just over 27mph - not too shabby at all!

    imperial / metric weirdness!

maybe all distances at HH should be done in yards (or chains?)

moreover, I won't mention the solo VCL rider in front of us for the first 2km who we didn't catch ...

  • Perhaps cubits per second?

  • I am delighted to find out that the HH track is just over two furlongs in length. (A furlong - as any fule noe - being 220 yards.)

So a half lap is about a furlong. Those of a tweedy air should use this as part of their standard track parlance.
