Just realised that it may have been my fault that the bald guy got so narky.
I was sprinting round the corner from Birdcage walk into the roundabout and onto the Mall. Think I may have come quite close to that group of stewards, at quite a pace (easily upwards of 40mph, obviously) as I rounded the apex of the bend.
In my defence, I did a lot of work on the front of that group along the embankment and was buggered if I wasn't going to get some glory. Lovely Jublee.

Ha I remember sprinting for that 385 yard sign then suddenly noticing the inch thick timing mats and just shouting "fuck!!" and someone shouting "bunny hop em".
Was convinced I was suddenly going to go over the bars as front wheel ground to a halt in the squidge.
hahaha same. I ended up just closing my eyes as I went over and praying not to go flying.

I pulled a mini-wheelie... The only way to go... Can't believe the group got so stretched out, I'm an old cunt and had no problems keeping up with the front... Pfff... Call yerselves cyclists? ;P

JCGarcia, Joe, pleause can you send me the photo of us at the bar. Really good photo of us!!
I was sad to be leaving the Guinness posse so early doors, but from the sound of the subsequent carnage (a regular result of a "quick pint" with the irrepressable Joe G) I may have made a rare wise move.
A good indication of how quiet and thoughtful, Friday evening's festivities are likely to be.

Oh, the shame... ;]

i think the pace caught people by surprise right at the start along from blackheath the pack was spread over 500m at least
peleton split early doors and remained so -

Crumb and myself found that we were in the back pack and decided to catch up. But the 2 groups were so seperated we kept on loosing sight of the leading pack and would end up getting lost and would end up with the back pack again. Quite frustrating.

Definitely. I was one of the last to leave and only reached the front group on commercial road.
Happened to me as well chainbreaker, at one point followed a guy who was headed into central. -

i think we did really rather well.
we overtook a few groups. and everytime we made ground we had hipsters and policeman sending us the wrong way.
otherwise we woulda been well within the front group.
although no complaints, our group was awesome -

This is probably true, a few of us were close to the stewards. For some reason the barriers were built up to double height and plastered with advertising so the corner was blind and we were winding up the speed for the sprint finish. We took it reasonably wide and shouted back to the following bunch but you can imagine how startled they must have been when we screamed past.
How big was the gap back to the group that got stopped?
