I wondered how you were doing as I coaxed myself back from the edge of insanity at 4 a.m. this morning.
that's exactly how i felt.
awesome ride people. thank you.
way to pop my tnrc cherry and my first ride at very nearly 100 miles.

well that was a great way to launch the TNRC Deluxe
eight riders. quiet still night. many miles of smooth blacktop mixed with some very interesting sections, climbs, fords, roadworks, descents.
the first 40 miles seemed to be predominately downhill. of course this can't be so but the lanes were so smooth and we clipped along nicely. realising we might get to the coast too early at that rate if we didn't slow down a bit we dropped an mph or two.
we needn't have bothered as we hit a few navigation problems (martin's garmin had led us beautifully for the first 50) and a few mechanicals. all worked well as with the sun up we could enjoy the scenery over the last 25 miles.
94 miles spent in great company. cheers purple_mj, shoots, damo, fiammatta, marcom, balmain and of course tim. bright times during the dark times.
let's try and get a few pictures up those that took em.
legs are looking forward to the next TNRC.

Glad to hear it was a good one, fellas. I am jealous but then serves my right. Didn't realise it was 94 manly miles. I thought it was closer to 80!
Well done Dame. Rather envious you did this one. Chapeau!

it was meant to be about 84 but we managed to add on an extra ten with some, uhh, creative, navigating

Real sorry for the last minute blowout. I had, shall I say, late negotiation problems. I'd checked the route and junctions for the last 40 miles on Google maps and it looked awesome. Also noticed some similarities with the Canterbury ride.
Might try to pick up the route from Claygate (10 miles west of Headcorn) and ride it myself next week.

well done fellers, 94 miles eh? jeez..sounds like the weather was on your side anyway, wicked one.

those first 45 miles were some of the best ever. we saw perhaps 10 cars. the tarmac was fresh and as jonny says we fair clipped along without using too much energy so we slowed it down knowing the hills were due later. as soon as we hit them things started to become slightly more problematic. Marco fell at 2mph, des managed to find some stinging nettles ( he needs to explain this) and then a series of 4 punctures to shoots' (spurs are winning as i type ) rear wheel broke up the flow of the ride. it was cold out there and the stop start certainly did for my knees and made the last 2 hrs a bit of a slog. As ever it didn't detract from a top quality ride (do this route in the summer one night at the weekend, you may see a few more cars at midnight but less at rush hour, yes rush hour! in the morning.) how could it with 7 other riders of such calibre? great to see the fixies doing battle with the hills , martin leading things out and mysteriously starting to metamorphose into a badger. always reassuring to look up from mid peleton and see those black stripes leading things out. Plenty of laughs and jokes and although herne bay and whitstable are basically shit english seaside towns it was good to roll up and get stuck into breakfast.
there will be more deluxe in june and august and details will be posted early so time can be booked off work for those who wanted to come but couldn't.
oh yes, the stars were out in force last night -

I did see one dodgy right hand turn on a downhill with a lot of gravel. Didn't see any stinging nettles though.

What a awesome gruppetto!!!!!!!!
yes! 8 of these^
A great night/morning out there with several chilly moments warmed up by human TNRC rock style.
I must confess that the last 20 miles I struggled not just a bit...
Btw the arrival on the sea side paid back well that kind of pain.Looking forward to what is next?

I see the view from Whitstable beach hasn't changed much, still bland!
How about an overnighter/jolly boys outing to Margate? In the local news yesterday it was announced that Dreamland is to be reopened.
