  • @hippy - is Easyjet acceptable? They fly from Gatwick to Venice, which is a 20 min drive from Treviso.

  • Mmmm, I must admit I've always had much better experiences flying Easyjet to Italy...

Easyjet is fine. It's ryanair I have the beef with.

I thought I was supposed to end up in Trieste? /confused

Shit, can't believe I'm thinking of flying somewhere already.. I'm sure parts of my buttocks are still dead from the Oz trip. Sorry cliveo..

@Hippy I've emailed you a couple of things this morning.
Definitely flying to TRIESTE not TREVISO.
Flying to Venice is an option, but then tagging on a 2/3 hour train ride to Udine is also necessary, as it is unlikely I can get a pick up from Venice from our host.
I also need to check which Venice airport is most convenient for train.
Back soon with some local knowledge.

  • Sorry for the confusion, for some reason I'd decided you were flying Ryanfuckingair to Treviso, not Trieste.

    Carry on.

  • You guys are flying Ryan Air? Fucking hell, don't do it. They're really shitty and will fuck your bikes over with a wrench and then charge you for it.

  • seeing as all this is booked. i'm going to ask if you think it would be possible to do this fixed and brakeless.

    just for you james.

  • I'm potentially planning on flying to Venice, then train to Udine from the Mestre station.

  • Dan

    PM cheevil for the details

  • jealous. sign me up for an autumn session.

  • Cuddling time expired. I'm not in.
Adding all the costs is something that I can't afford now.

Definitely ashamed of putting this thread on ignore.

  • Mmmmmm, grappa.

Hope this trip works out and goes well. As I said last night James, I would have loved to go but the timing isn't good as being an unemployed bum for the last six months has left me a little bit skint.

    Roll on the Autumn!

  • are you doing a spokecard?

  • what are other options to travel? wouldn't want to pay £80 just to take a bike with me, especially to ryanair.

  • If anyone is contemplating this

right now the flights are going cheap w ryanair

contact cheevil if you want to join in

  • sadly, i am definitely not going to be able to make this one...

    next time.

    I'm not.

    spits on Ryanair website

  • I'm potentially planning on flying to Venice, then train to Udine from the Mestre station.

Why would you do it this way?

I'm looking at Lufthansa £175 from Heathrow to Trieste.
I need to find out more on their bike policy though.

  • Holy shit.

    buys compact chainset

  • I can lend you a Campag one if you want hippy?

  • em is an old romantic, and wants to be serenaded by the cornetto dudes in Venice

  • I can lend you a Campag one if you want hippy?

That'd be great. Could you make sure it's one of the old ones with the 7.456mm allen key fittings that no tool was ever made to fit.

  • em is an old romantic, and wants to be serenaded by the cornetto dudes in Venice

    Sounds rad.

  • James, I've worked the dates and the magic. I'll be calling you later tonight.
