My rainwear needs are probably a little different from most. I do hot food deliveries on my bike a few times a week, so it's not one ride then changed into dry clothes like a commuter. It's several runs with long periods on sitting around being damp. No real easy way of mitigating that too much.
When i'm out on my roadbike for fun I definitely use overshoes etc. Mudguards probably the most important thing, without them your arse, legs, back and feet get a lot wetter, a lot quicker. Can't understand any commuter who doesn't use them.

Weird Q: I want a poor pair of winter tights. I had a pair from Tenn bought for about £15 offa ebay a few years ago. It was unremarkable: no padding, no whizz-bang technical material, not waterproof. In terms of innovation it offers loops to go under the feet and a short zip at the bottom. Thing is I loved them, all they did was add an extra layer of material under my usual shorts and kept my calves a little warmer. Eventually the zip went to I wanted to replace but Tenn don't do them any more. I ended up buying some other tights with that Roubaix material and pads so I just bake in them at anything other than -5.
So I want a cheap pair of tights, no pads, no bibs, just something I can wear on my commute and compliment my current commuting set up. Any suggestions?

40 denier (or so, the higher the number the thicker they are) tights (as in women's): thick enough so you don't look like you're off to the Rocky Picture Show.
Wear them under shorts and with leg/knee warmers if necessary. Something like a fiver for a pack of two or three, from Primark etc.

Weird Q: I want a poor pair of winter tights
I resorted to a spare pair of running tights to get me through last winter. They went over my bibs and leg warmers.
I didn't die and I didn't need to spend £xx on Rapha. -

Some Ronhill Tracksters which are simple classic running leggings and have the strap under the feet you mentioned?

The wind's started coming through the mesh bits in my shoes these last few nights. Are lycra overshoes any good for preventing cold toes? My endura neoprenes feel a bit ott for this time of year.

I've just bought some of those new Rapha oversocks. Testing tomorrow, will report back.

Anyone used the grip grab stuff?
Considering fluoro arm and leg warmers. The light up here is truly terrible this time if year. Figured if I needed new warmers, they might as well be fluoro.

Just resurrecting this thread as my overshoes have finally died. They were the Endura ones which were fine, although not exactly close fitting or neat looking. What decent, close fitting not too pricey overshoes are available these days?

DREDGE!
Does anyone know of any not terrible, warm overshoes for smaller feet (UK size 3/ EU 36)?

Buy my shoes. Then you can wear 20 pairs of socks inside, and have super-toasty feet!

I think if you have cold shoes then no overshoe will help.
I prefer oversocks and have some of theseWhich are weapons grade neon, complimenting my otherwise full safetyblack™ outfit.

Maybe you can wear thick socks under your shoes, over socks over your shoes, and then over shoes over your over socks which are over your shoes.

This is a good point, it's hard to find small overshoes but sealskinz waterproof socks come in size 3 so might be a good start to getting warmer feet.

Waterproof socks aren't that warmth. They just suck less water.
Oversocks and the warmest socks you can find, if you're still cold you can get some of these chemical bags, for long, freezing rides they're a lifesaver -

literally what i do, almost. I go for defeet wool socks, shoes, endura neoprene overshoes and defeet oversocks on top. Obvs in fluoro for full retina destructing power. Only get cold toes when it's sub zero...

I'm asking for my wife as she has little feet, I have larger feet (for a woman) at size 41 and have plenty of overshoes options and get to have dry warm feet.. Struggling to find small overshoes for her though!
I'll have a look for little oversocks.
