  • Do it ! I know quite a few on here, are out and about the villages on a regular basis. John H's last pic is really tough . Maybe make the first few fairly easy to reel us in .

  • Right then, happy to start the thread, but think we should have some idea of rules first...

This is from page one of this thread...

Cambridge hipsters unite - a game of bicycle tag

Okay, so the rules are as follows:
    -a picture of someone's hipster-mobile is posted
-another hipster must post a picture of their bike at the same location, and then post a second picture of their bike at a different location
-if a location goes a week without a reply, the poster must giveaway a strong clue(s) to the location (eg. street name)
    -and so the game continues...

Clues may be given, but only if the poster deems it necessary.

    Suggest the following amendments...

Cambridg(shir)e hipsters unite - a game of long(er)-distance bicycle tag

Seeing as a lot of people around these parts don't actually live in the city itself, or have the ability to get into town enough to keep up with the faster-moving hyperlocal tags, this thread will act as a place to post more long-distance/diverse tags and will run alongside the main hipster tag thread for people doing longer rides etc.

    The rules are as follows:

    • A picture of someone's hipster-mobile is posted
    • Another hipster must post a picture of their bike at the same location, and then post a second picture of their bike at a different location
    • No more than three simultaneous 'open' tags at a time - if you're posting an open tag and not closing a previous one, do so with a number, i.e. 2nd or Final open tag to make sure people don't open too many.
    • Considering the distances that might be in play, try to make tags pretty obvious (or perhaps include a GPS location) to avoid people putting in a tonne of miles to get to the wrong place!
    • If a location goes a week without anyone getting it, the poster must giveaway a strong clue(s) to the location (eg. street name, GPS tag...)
    • And so the game continues...

Clues may be given, but only if the poster deems it necessary - it might be an idea to take several pictures of your tag, including different landmarks/information, in case you need to give clues later.

    Good luck with your knees...

  • Could be, my only worry would be that the tags would take too long to get collected, especially if they're further than a couple of miles out...

Yes, everybody knows that hipsters never ride further than about half a mile.

  • True, but more that the longer distances are more likely to be 'saved' for weekends, so likely days with no activity and no-one wanting to cycle to someone else's tag, just wanting to capture their own new ones to show how far they can go...

    That's what I'd do, anyway... ;)

  • while everyones popping off starting new tag threads, there should be one to accommodate tags where the locations aren't difficult to find, but require audacity, fortitude, ninja skills or huge balls to complete

I'd pop in and out of that... :)

  • I vote for just posting the GPS with the further afield tags. Post your last one and I'll get it tomorrow if the weather isn't being gay again.

Edit: Oh and it would be really cool if we could organize a big group ride sometime..

  • I'm not sure my tiny mind can cope with 3 running concurrently

  • Ok - I have been away, apologies.

First clue - it's on this map: http://i.imgur.com/ASk91.png

There is no photo-shopping on the sign, it's like that in the flesh...

  • Got an idea where this might be now...

    Sir, Im dtf.

  • P.s. how's about, for the further afield one, instead of gps-ing a tag, you upload the strata/mapmyride route and time so you have to nail the ride while keeping some eyes out for the tag? Also fulfils my willywaggling Pepsi max advert competition needs

    So a TT?

Could be fun, but suggest a TT of two parts, i.e. there, pause/stop then rest of the route... (so as not to penalise for stopping to take a pic...)

  • Primrose Street, off Victoria Road...

A nice easy one to get things moving again...

  • old

    New

  • ^ Hello!

Know it, not going to get out there any time soon!

  • I will, assuming it's not gone by the end of the day...

  • Just flush yourself down the toilet and you'll get there in the end.

  • That's the "DOOM" tunnel non?

  • Got all the way out to Bottishan in the rain and didn't see this anywhere. :(

EDIT: I went FAR too far. OOPS!!!

  • How strict are we? Can I join in with my not actually fixed gear, but have been meaning to convert for ages and not quite got round to it... bike?

  • Pretty sure it's open to any kind of bike.

  • I think the only criterion is you are a massive hipster
