winner?
was there for a good 5 mins, no sign of owner...

Even with a decent lock, that's just asking to be crimped into a curve that matches the railings by the next careless driver. Would never put a bike in that position.

A Mercian with a barber stripe pole locked using a helmet? I don't even leave mine unattended..ever

So is having a shit bike any defence against theft?
-
• #3106
Not really. There's a healthy market for shit bikes.

bloody hell, that mercian would be very trying on the conscience, would really want to rob it, not really because I even want it but more that I am 'offended' / jealous of the carefree locking strategy and know somebody else would probably take it anyway.
Crabon STI's and the Brooks gotta be worth a pretty penny on their own.

Ergos not STIs.

i would have left a little note, because that is probably the worst example of locking, on a bike that's actually nice, i've ever seen.
-
• #3110
I'd just leave it, it's got a triple.

I was told to be careful locking up today by the guy next to me because he'd had a bike stolen from the same racks last week. I was using a mini fahg and a mini evo. He was using what looked like a shoe lace. What a mug.

i fucked up locking up my bike today. by leaving my keys at work, 46 miles away. i had a spare for one lock but not the other, no i have to worry about it over night. Fortunately I'm not in London and it's a ratbike so given it's got a fagh at the rear and chain/padlock at the front I'm hoping no-one will bother. The only thing I could do is go back and hacksaw the padlock, hmmm, not sure really. Will be able to cycle past it and check it before 7am tomorrow, going to be an anxious wait until then.

The good old Sheldon method, it has been shown to be not very effective but it is still a popular technique with some.
-
• #3119
I use it.
When I have a NY300 locked round the frame and front wheel.

Daft thing is you can easily get a kyrpto mini around the rim and at least one seat stay, sometimes both depending on the thickness of what you're locking to.
-
• #3121
Yeah 90% the time i lock to a bike stand i lock through the rear rim and seat stay with a mini evo, best method when all you have is a mini evo i think.

Left the garmin on too.

Saw these two lovelies the other day, you'd think they'd have better locks!
