  • Bike for free, read all about it!! Ahem, as you were

  • Seen outside Willesden Green Sainsbury's. It caught my eye because of the lock through only the wheels, then I noticed it doesn't even loop through the stand.

My only hope is that this is bate from the police and that someone isn't really that stupid.

  • Bait

    Quite write.

  • I've been recently using this combination to lock my bike

Kryptonite d lock through rear wheel and frame.
Thick chain through front wheel and frame secured by a pretty serious padlock

Is the padlock a bad idea? I can't seem to find those tiny d locks sold separately as i already had a chain so didnt need to buy one

  • There are so many times I've seen bikes terribly locked outside of that sainsburys it's unbelievable.

The only thing bad about it is the weight. Chains & padlocks are pretty poor in terms of security and very very heavy. So best you leave this at location.

  • That's clearly the best locking ever!

  • ^This.

  • Thank god no one can steal their front tyre.

  • there was logic behind the front lock... not sober logic though!

  • well you can't ride it as it is so I guess it works alright ha!

  • Unless that missing branch was once used to secure another bike.

  • That's nearly the best locking ever!

    ftfy

  • Bike after its stag do.

Or bike owner helping thieves out by means of a makeshift workstand.

Or bike locked to sapling thirty-odd years ago.

  • and the 'arione'.. :-D

  • ^^^^ I gave my old bike to a friend. It had a quick release seat post, so I used to have a cable lock wrapped around the seat rails for the purpose of locking saddle to bike when locked. There was also a cheap (but reasonable given the age of the bike) D lock. I gave said friend a couple of minutes' tuition on locking bikes (round the frame and something permanent such as railing, lampost etc). However, saw her a few days later and she only had the seat and the cable lock left. She had locked it like this...

I was annoyed having had the bike for like ten years or more without it going missing. Then I remembered, it was hers now, so not my loss. But still....

  • While I'm here. That bike hanging from the tree... what is the point of the D-lock on the front wheel?

  • the weight of it stops the bike blowing about in the wind

MAkes the front wheel less desirable. Pretty easy to knick it via quick use of a spanner, but then you have the hassle of taking the d lock off before it's any use to another bike...

And also if they somehow get the whole bike off the tree. It's un-rideable due to both D-locks
