I don't really get it...but this is part of the story?
All I see is a metaphor and a guy dying of oxygen depletion.
[on that note there's an article online on corpses left on Mt Everest if you feel morbid]

Just thought it was a sad little story, is all.

Lotsa Garth Ennis comics at Belfast central library.
The punisher "from start to end" ... Proper grimfest. The character always sounded very flat and uninteresting to me, but I really want to read the rest now.

Tom Gauld is the best... Used to commission him all the time until he stopped picking up my phone calls or replying to my emails... 😐😂

A free online comic about epilepsy, developed by NI people (the very distinctive love it or hate it city hospital tower is in one of the frames) and not bad at all, have a read :)

Carlos Ezquarra is coming to NI comic fest 5-6 may. It's in Enniskillen plane or Ferry to Belfast and a bus up (1.5 hours...) gets you there.
They have a nice lake with boat trips there so worth making a weekend of it. Will probably be there :)

Any recommendations for child friendly comics?
My friend's son turned 7 recently and I thought it would be good to turn him on the wonders that are comics.I know he likes all the Avengers films and guff, but the comics can be a little intimidating knowing where to start.
Also I am not a massive Marvel fan.Ideally looking at Trade Paperbacks, rather than trying to get old issues, and contained stories would be good.
Maybe something X Men? I don't know.

Also I am not a massive Marvel fan.
it would appear yer mate's wee man is. Chris claremont era new mutants would be a great place to start.
i wouldn't bother with any of the 90's jim lee, rob liefeld pocket pouch and laser eye nonsense.

Thanks for the tip.
Will go visit my friendly local comic shop and see what they have in (or can get in)Failing that I might just take him in there and let him have his fill from the 50p box...

then again, probably worth getting him involved with a single character to begin with. some of these superhero team based titles can get pretty involved considering the expanded rosters.
then again he'll be too busy looking at the scantilly clad ladies doing roundhouse kicks for overly convoluted story lines to be too much of an issue.

Got two volumes of The Invisibles going if anyone's up for them? Gratis and in good condition
Think it's apocalypstick and entropy in the U.K, will double check when I'm at home

I went to the 2000AD exhibition at the Comic Museum last week. Well worth the trip, although they needed more Rogue Trooper and more from Simon Bisley and Bryan Talbot.

Just got finished reading Patience by Daniel Clowes - was good!

Punisher: Start to end (max, Garth Ennis)
Excellent level of grimness and dialogue/framing, Garth knows his stuff. Grim grim grim.
Transmetropolitan: Only read book one, character is a little stereotyped, but it's very well written and the issue where he watches TV was just hilarious.
Another "older" comic which like Judge Dredd gets some things on point cos us humans haven't changed...
