To those of you who I met tonight, sorry if I seemed a bit strange
I didn't even see you, Max, you must have kept your head down!

MF was that you handing out stickers at the last stopping point?
sure was, over 100 people now know the Tao. had a great time, hooked up with some folks I worked with five years ago, met all the forum people I had arranged to, and lots lots more. Was great to meet Charlie LCC with his vintage fixed before even getting off the train in!
this route was pretty spread out in order to reach all three fatality sites which made it less of a play ride than usual in the west end, but Vicky Park was still a good place to have a roundabout dance. best part of it for me was back from east with the forum riders-sweet riding. If it was 27 k, then back to pub, then back north wasnt too bad on miles either. good onyas! -

Enjoyed my first CM - Bit slow at times but what can you expect.
The two incidents that stand out to me both involved lorries (and considering the route and reason for the stops it only further highlights the issue on London’s famous roads)
The first tried to speed up the wrong side of the street trying to get past us, but made it all of 50m – nearly taken out me and a load others – its scary how someone can drive like that without any consideration of peoples lives. He can’t even use the excuse that he didn’t see us!
The second was near Bricklane which nearly ended in a fight with a thuggish looking lorry driver and his moronric passenger trying to take on the mass (hopefully someone has that on video)
I was the one on the Langster with the LED wheel lights btw, for those that asked they came from here:
They look better at speed but that was never gona happen on this ride ;)

a fun night. got near the front after the druid street stop.
The best sight of the night was just after a left turn heading for Victoria park where you could see the mass going all the way back down the road. Took something like 5 mins for 3 groups to all gather up there. I hope someone has pictures :)Didn't see any LFGSS leave from the roundabout (bah) so we (me + 2 friends -Dominic + Sara) headed into town and promptly had a close call with a er... character in a VR6 Golf on what I later found out to be a rather 'interesting' estate. Garmin engaged and got out of there - good run back to civilisation and found the Pub.
Glory, what a crowd :) Excellent chats and seeing people, all good.
Headed back after we heard the pub was not serving anymore promptly into a shower that caused the drowned rat look, nice run through hyde park and all home safe.

Didn't see any LFGSS leave from the roundabout....Shouted loud enough..
Good night as CM's go, and it only rained whilst we were in the pub.

Hi to cliveo and tika who we passed leaving as we arrived at the pub.

Too many dick'ead anarchists on the ride for me - CM anyway, not LFGSS
Whoever thinks it might be a good idea to stand in front of taxi's, buses and cars, leaning on bonnets and generally acting like tits, I can tell you now it is NOT gonna make drivers think any better of 'us'.
Good call to split and head off to the pub.
That was my first and last CMdmczone, spokecard = ACE!

+1000.
From what i saw (at the back so I think it was the angry end) most things that happened will have an adverse effect. I saw some great pinning (Ma3k & chukker Norris ) but most people were just antogonistic and agressive. This clearly does more harm than good.
Awesome bumping in to forum friends, and making new ones, but CM for me was not nice. -

really good to see everyone out. had a good laugh, not really liking the whole mass thing, some poor bugger in a mini, thought someone kicked his car, so he got out he was about 7ft tall, to have a moan and got told to fnckoff! it wasn't a pleasant ride.
glad to slope off to the pub. two bloody punctures (not liking the rubino pros) big thanks to the guy walking all the way back with me, (i forgot your name sorry man) big thanks for the beer too.
and thanks for the tube joe.
good seeing you renan. and meeting a whole lot of others

If people check out previous CM threads, they will see that this discussion will always be had. You may have noticed more antagonism than good vibes on this ride, but I can promise you that if you went on another, chances are pretty good that you'll find the opposite.
I first went on CM nearly 15 years ago and I've had many totally brilliant rides that have made me want to come back, as well as a handful of poor rides with a bad atmosphere that I didn't enjoy. It's influenced by a lot of factors that you don't understand at all at your first CM and don't fully understand later--aspects of the route, the atmosphere at the start, the weather, obviously, how people collectively/on average seem to be feeling generally, what issues there are, etc.
It's a broad mix of people that come together, and yes, there will be people you don't like, but that's the same whether you go to a gig or go shopping. I can only say--do go again even if you didn't enjoy this one. You'll get to know more people who go to the Mass, too. Give it another try, and you might well have a great time.
For the record, I enjoyed last night a lot, but I don't really have a handle on what happened, as I was walking and busing it.

It's not a case of 'not liking people'. Seeing 4/5/6 people on more than 5 occasions, surround the front/side of taxi's, cars, lorries and buses, leaning on bonnets and doors is not going to have any positive reaction whatsoever. I mean, what's teh fuckin point....? Just ride and get on with it
There was a couple of occasions when drivers opened doors, windows etc and were well within their rights to get out and retaliate - I for one would not have helped the cyclists - they would've deserved a kickin in my view -

This has become by issue with CM. Since I started going, it appears as though more and more people are stopping, even when the incidents didn't involve them, and are causing unnecessary aggro. Meh.
Great night at the pub. Felix you're a cunt :)
Thanks for the ride back Skully, sorry to other group who we lost / left, joe.smith I hope you're still alive...
Great to finally formally introduce ourselves Clive, and nice teamwork on the nodder Dovvles, heh. -

My second CM, but my first where my bike held out until the road... though as an aside I broke my chain AGAIN on the way home (thx Dicki for the tow).
Might wanna sort that one!
Also I am the tw*t who locked his bike outside the pub and immediately afterwards dropped his keys through a grill into someone's basement.
Amazing!!

its to stop cars becoming immersed in the riders. you think it would be safer with that amount of people with cars in it? tis safer to let the mass pass, follow it, or go a different route. i mean, look at the chaos caused when those taxi's followed the ambulance and inevitably got caught up.

I don't think he means letting them through, Josh, I think he means leaning on them (something drivers hate) and surrounding them with an intimidating / unnecessary number of people...

oh and, i have a fucking shit ability to sleep indoors. went with jimbilly and furious tiles to miss socks' party in stoke newington, left at some time, rode around for about an hour with no idea where i was, ended up kipping under someone's balcony, got up about 5.30am, rode around for about an hour following signs to central ldn, found the hipster spice route > home. i live in hampstead. can truly say i felt rough. good night tho!

^thanks for the part-ay!
Phew, lucky escape. ;P
Sorry--I was hoping that there would be more early stopping-points, as it is impossible to take everyone in while the Mass is moving!
