-
• #310
Not really agreeing with CM, I'm out.
-
• #311
what is it that you dont agree with out of curiosity? Im new to this
-

I prefer to promote cycling by showing it as better than other vehicles.. not riding slowly intentionally blocking up the roads.
-
• #313
ah! cool. This should be on a sunday then...
-
• #314
I would tend to agree, however, being a filthy trouble making student, I can't. Thus, I will still attend.
-

This is neither, it's having a party, whilst cycling. The mass just seems like a good vehicle for this as it is somewhat protected by it's long-term existence and tradition. The mass permits the kind of mayhem that a party of over 100 cyclists might get up to when riding as one group. Basically a vehicle for our fun.

Why does it have to involve CM? We've done enough rides without them that were great fun.

Yep, I have a similar attitude to CM, if you've ever talked to a driver who's been caught up in it you'll see it just creates a "them against us" attitude which can result in putting all cyclists at risk of retaliation.
Still going on this one tho, forum birthday party after all.

CM: pricey, but nice...
-
• #319
I think this is less about us joining CM, rather an excuse for us to have a larger than normal ride, where we have even greater safety in numbers. CM already has something of a party atmosphere (or did on the occasion I was there), and we will simply add to that.
That said, I'm not trying to convince you to change your mind...

• #320
That's pretty much it.
-
• #321
Someone has to arrange a forum ride too. Do a route etc. This kinda strips that out of it too.
-
• #322
... the odd kerfuffle, a lot of vehicles waiting patiently as we pass, some bad trackstanding, some awesome trackstanding (me), dancers on bikes, clued- up lovely internationalist girls on lovely bikes ...
and me doing a spectacular "falling over" trackstand fail

As a ped I've encountered previous CMs and it only takes 1, at most 2 mins to wait for it to pass. It's on a friday night, it's too minor an inconvenience for anyone to get angry about.
I suspect all those "angry ..... " are conceived by one pen
