That explain why you managed to lock your bike in a compromising position that made it exceedingly difficult to removed my handlebar from the railing.

Pantani's case is open again, as said before evidence shows that he wasn't alone in the hotel room, he has been beaten up and forced to drink (?) cocaine.
From italian national news: http://www.ansa.it/sito/notizie/cronaca/2014/08/02/pantani-procura-riapre-il-caso-non-si-suicido_6a2d3bac-66f2-4f00-af18-2e8802348e74.html

Have Pantani recieved a post mortem at the time?
A dodgy one, of course.
-
• #215
He did.
It was reported as giving swelling of heart and brain as cause of death, caused by a load of cocaine. I can't remember if any other substances were involved.
I can't help thinking this case is just born from his families' pain. Accidental suicide is tricky ground for catholics. rip.

Sometimes only the pain of families can bring up dirty truth from the past, at least happens in Italy.
And Pantani's family has nothing to do with catholicism ;)
His mother is an overprotecting mum and she's up to everything to reveal what was actually happening to his son. no religion or money involved on her side. -

I'm asking because if he was beaten up, surely bruising would have shown in the post mortem.

The bruises have always been reported by police, medics and eyewitnesses to the media, but never used in court I guess, a lot of things has been covered

Ed, I think the police need you over there.

Maybe Ed could solve the mystery of Ottavio Bottecchia's death too, whilst he's there.

It was the Ciabatta that does it.

Matt Rendell on why this is bullshit

Just read that, which re-affirmed my view on this - which is that this is basically straw clutching. He was a mess in the weeks and months leading up to his death, addicted to cocaine. That someone forced him to take it for an unknown motive just seems far-fetched.
The Death of Marco Pantani is a great read, a little heavy on the technical stuff in places but a very interesting story that also gives a lesson on the science of doping.
I did get a few odd looks reading it poolside though.
