I'm having a nightmare second game Vs elGreeno after our previous being possibly my best game I've played. I seem to be missing super obvious things, it's such a let down. The new year has stolen any chess ability I developed last year.

Is it possible to have a league of all of us, every one plays everyone kind of thing.

I believe footballists do this kind of thing?

Yeah I couldn't figure that out. Or some sort of ladder. There's a few basic things like this which are missing which is a bit of a shame. Could keep a record of it on hear I guess but its a bit clunky.

Don't be disheartened, you just made a blunder that's all, you were doing okay up until then and your move prior to that was good and I hadn't considered it.

Over time you just see that stuff a lot easier.

You may be able to setup a tournament though as one massive group I guess...? That could work

I find the endgame much easier, I think because its simplified by having fewer pieces remaining.

Ill keep playing and would be up for any future tournaments, it cant do anything but good for my game.

looks like biggest group size you can do for a tourno is 12, and you can't specify number of rounds so it will just go through the same knockout format that we're following now.

We could have.......a list.

Don't quite know how ladders work but there are some standard formats online - once we play our first game we go onto the ladder, then it just runs from there. Means the list will clog the thread every time a game is played.

Straight normal league would be better though.

this would work, no? 16 rounds mean we would play most other members. Seems to be a max of 60 mins though.

What is a Swiss tournament?

A Swiss tournament is different than a Round-Robin tournament in that no players are eliminated. Every player will play every round, and the player with the highest number of points at the end of the tournament is the winner.

In a Swiss tournament, you don't necessarily play every other player. If there are a lot of players in the tournament, there may not be enough rounds for everyone to play everyone. Pairings try to put together players of similar rating in the first round. After the first round pairings are based on performance, those who won are matched with other winners, losers with losers. There may be some exceptions to avoid color repetition.

A shame it’s time controlled but might be a good thing. In that case though I’d rather shorter games personally.

not sure how the time control stuff will work. do you have to just get your game done online once it begins. I am all for shorter times - like one or two days, rather than five. but couldn't commit to just getting games done if in a tournament.

reckon it will be good to try different formats. could have a rolling lfgss nerds knockout tournament too. can set that up. more games the better - and the better we become

I've set one up, starts tomorrow at 9am, you can register from 8. If it doesn't work or the format is crap then we can try something else
