friend has copied over 2gb of books onto a pen drive for me, mostly science fiction, literary fiction, blockbuster trash, crime fiction and classics. But quite a wide assortment.
I put about 50 books on this time round, including ones by neal stephenson, david foster wallace, ann sebold, thomas pynchon, chuck palahunik, seth grahame smith, malcolm gladwell, jonathan frantzen, dennis lehane, sebastien junger, james ellroy, orson scott card to name a few.
More than willing to share, so if you'd like a mosey let me know..

I'm after a case for my paper weight.
I wanted one of these Fintie ones as they seem to be well recommended an have the magnetic clasp:
Fintie Folio Case with Auto Sleep/Wake Feature for 6 inch Amazon Kindle Paperwhite - Red:Amazon.co.uk:Computers & Accessories
Unfortunately the dark colours seem to be out of stock.Any other suggestions or should I just cough up for the Amazon one? Also has anyone seen the leather Amazon one in tan and does it look any good?
Cheers.

Hugo, I got given this case with my kindle, in bright yellow. I've gotten over the colour, and overall its quite well made, and makes the kindle feel protected. Have dropped the damn thing once, about six feet onto some stiars, and the screen wasn't cracked afterwards so it must have done something..

Is bibliotik the best place to torrent an ebook? If so has anyone got an invite going?

have been getting a shit load of use out of my b&n nook e-reader as I've been getting the tube a lot but starting to think I could do with something a bit nicer that isn't as locked down as the nook has become (you now cannot download some books unless it's directly to the device).
however not sure if the paperwhite is really worth £109 to be used solely for books or if i should get a mini tablet instea as I do like reading off the nooks e-paper screen.

I bought a paperwhite which replaced a wifi-keyboard one which I broke. To be honest I was unsure about the backlight, but thought it will be useful when camping whilst touring and if the girlfriend is asleep.

I only got the paperwhite after killing my keyboard one.
The back light is handy for nighttime and day time reading.

paperwhite. I put off buying one since they came out as I had a normal kindle.
finally bought one in Nov. wish I had done it sooner, it's awesome. My only bitch is that I have to use the right side of the screen to turn to next page. I hold the book in my left hand, and would rather have the buttons back so I can control it all one handed.
-
• #1063
I hold mine in my left and find the back section of the screen is narrow enough that it's still easy to turn pages using that hand (and I don't have particularly large hands).

I did like the buttons on the predecessor.

Don't suppose any of you guys have kindle keyboard cases for sale with the light? I want to stick with the keyboard version longer rather than buy a paper white right now.
-
• #1066
I love the side button because I can rest my finger on it and change with a slight touch, rather than having to move my finger every time I change pages.
A small nugget but quite annoying, but the advantage of the Paperwhite outweight the side button.

Since it's all software, I'm surprised there isn't a "lefty" option, swapping the forward/backward around.

I'd hate if / when my keyboard kindle breaks. The free 3G is possibly the best thing Amazon have ever done!

I thought the same, seemed very odd for a popular ebook reader.

After forgetting to cancel my Prime trial I now have access to the kindle lending library.
Does anyone use it? Can't seem to find anything decent on there.
-
• #1071
I'm a prime member but not been through the library properly but it's another reason I'm considering a kindle over my nook as I could then take advantage of it.
they have some of robert rankin's books on there I believe which if you like comedy in the vein of terry pratchett/tom holt is very good. I count him as one of my favourite authors.
in a semi-related but off-topic diversion now that you're a paid up member of prime if they ever miss a next day delivery make sure you complain to customer services as they will tack on another free month by way of apology.
-
• #1072
The prime library is pretty poor, there's things I read in there but it's partly because I want to make use of the prime membership rather than because it's something I specifically want. It's not worth the money alone, only if the next day delivery's important to you.
To browse it on a PC you can search for "prime eligible" on Kindle books on Amazon.

The next day delivery is brilliant, along with finding out they deliver to the cornershop at the end of my road. They keep much better hours than the post office.
One-click may end up bankrupting me.

Anyone hacked their Kindle 3 (3G/keyboard Kindle)? I want to add support for custom PDF zoom levels. I've read that this may be possible?
-
• #1075
I did jailbreak mine. Piss easy.
Whilst it survived my cracking of the software, it didn't like me treading on it.
I vaguely remember being able to zoom in on pdfs but cannot confirm how much
I'm wondering when Amazon will be able to give you "free" kindle versions of books you bought from them (like they do with mp3's for CD).
I find the ease of purchasing books through kindle takes care of it all. However, I've branched out to reading things under $4 per book. Some are total shite, but there's quite a lot of good stuff if you avoid "main stream" authors
