Cheers! where did you find the image, btw?
Wondering if there's any info / tips on how to do that properly before I start hacking.It's mine (;
I just got a fresh hacksaw blade, plenty of oil, and did my best to follow the original line. Then cleaned it up/got it perfect with a file.

cheers... do you mean you cover it oil as you cut?
(noob question - sounds like making a salad to me)And no problems with the stem safety-wise since cutting?
The quill walls of the Pearl don't seem to be tapered so I'm guessing it's thick enough to stay safe all the way down. -

Exactly that, acts a lubricant. Be sure to use good extra virgin olive oil.

This thread reminds of these guys, who toured all over Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam on bikes bought for $29 and $14.99 respectively.

Coat (and re-coat if necessary) the blade in GT85 or WD40, keeps it smooth and makes cutting much easier.
Stem seems rock solid, put in plenty of miles on it post-chop..

I've read that before, it's a good read and sometimes makes my flashy wants seem daft.

Im currently trying to do something along this line. A buddy donated a frame forks and bars to me and the missus has offered to get the thing painted if i actually build it. Just looking at parts now and debating whether to pay shop prices or just buy unbranded kit from ebay

Is amazing now a days you can still build an awesome bike for so little!

- Buy two sub-£50 efforts from Ebay and mix&match the good parts.
- Flog the all bad bits on LFGSS for ridiculous amounts under the title 'Vintage Gems Clear-out'.

Trapezium, shirley?
-
• #8296
yeah apart from the fact it has five sides.
-
• #8297
Nope because the seat stays pass the seat tube and join at the top tube creating the 5th side.
Sort of.

I believe the RH Con. Savage was referring to both the rear triangles (DS and NDS) as well as the trapezium of the front 'triangle'.
