  • thwoar, that seatpost is longer than the seat tube, incredible.

  • Just realise my bike can be considered a Frankenbikes;

  • abomination, more like :)

  • I know, it got TIME instead of your popular SPD.

  • Yep. No one is going to steal that.

    Altho you have made me come around to liking those white cranks.

    Oh and while we're here, could you have used a long reach calliper brake on the rear instead of cantis'?

  • and.........it's hardley a beater or a rat bike, it's brand new FFS

  • Calliper? It'd clog with mud.

  • and it's done about 5 miles

  • i've been told by people in the know this year is the year of the beater

    That was last year, dicki... Do keep up...

  • and.........it's hardley a beater or a rat bike, it's brand new FFS

    Hence Frankenbikes, after all it is against the whole purpose of a BMW Gangsta isn't it? originally design to do less than 4 miles, need riser, aerospokes, BMX cranks etc...

    Need to give it a good clean, it's a bit dusty from Surrey.

  • .

  • ... the point of all this being that for Mr Esq. Scoble of Edness, his Frankenbike is a mere BMW. His elevated tastes mean that any bike that can be considered worthy of him or at least half-decent must be of much more noble pedigree. :)

  • Helluvvah frame. Nice rat build. From the Current Projects thread.

  • ah! finally some where my bikes belong, most my bikes seem to be beaters!

    Peugeot touriste, my first conversion, already had all the parts to convert it and frame cost me £10, sold for £180 :D was great fun, still miss it

    Dawes civic, eyed up this frame at work, after riding my girlfriends bike and feeling how light the frame was (531 tubing i think) i wanted to build it, it was actually awesome! i want to build it up again when i can afford it and do a bit of offroad, it turned out really handy for the snow, still managed to ride most days when it snowed because of it

    Raleigh top twenty, also love this bike, very nippy and the box on the back is great for shopping, managed to take 2 heavy bags of shopping home earlier with no problem, including a box of eggs, i can get up some of the steepest hills around here in rush hour with no problem to, the low gearing is great

  • Now that is just painful.

  • You thinks that's bad....

  • I foresee vintage road 1x9 setups with racks and curved bars becoming the new cycling trend

  • they are really practical though, i want one my self

  • Now that is just painful.

    Not as bad as this as seen outside LMNF;

    It's a titanium Condor road frame with internal gear, no back brakes, a front rack/fork off a Globe Live.

    that's the everest of idiocy.

  • Nice polo bike there

  • that's definitely not outside.

  • meet my proper beater/rat bike, like 75% of my riding is on this thing, ride the shit out of it, any weather, any surface

    in many forms...

    first got it for £180, majorly ripped off, it was in terrible shape and became unridable, i learned my lesson

    months later i had the knowledge and tools to bring it back to life

    planning to speed it up, drops, faster ratio, 25c's, metal clips ect...

  • what bars on pic #5?
