  • For anyone interested, Brixton Cycles still have a few forms left... looking forward to beers and Paris Roubaix night :-)

  • I'm doing this. Should be good fun.
I need to pre-order some Belgian beers to keep my energy levels up ya know..

  • went out in preparation for this yesterday.
managed to get up Canonbie Rd (the steep side) on fixed -
    looking forward to it

  • I might take the Ribble out for a final fling..

  • i am not planning to do this fixed. spesh roubaix has been gathering dust for toooo long. i think this is a job for it.

Do you know the route or do you just know that road is in it?

Get yourself in some QuickStep kit, grab yourself a 15yo girl and some charlie and make a proper day of it :)

Got the Canonbie Rd tip from earlier in this thread.

then there is some other route info over on Urban75

  • Cheers, I'll have a look. I might fit my old Pave tyres to look the part.. pity they're so damn expensive now.

  • Canonbie Road, 18%

Maybe I should do it fixed then.. :)

    searches for 27T 1/8th cog

  • It's all over in 30 seconds though.

  • How long is it? Couple of kay for the 30 seconds? If I've done a few more though it might push out to 45.. and since I'll do it pissed compared to your sober let's say 60 seconds.. ;P

  • See the white van at the top on your second photo, that's the brow of the hill.

  • A champion hill climber like yourself will not be troubled by it.

  • i was thinking fixed on a spinny gear would be perfect for these hills, but shit for the rest of it...

  • there are speed bumps to contend with also....
get to the top on 48:17 - only just though

  • Steep but very short.

Imagine it could be tricky on fixed from a standing start assuming normal gearing.

Repped.. but not because I'm an egotistical maniac or anything..

My normal gearing is only 69" though.

  • Arse tits and buggery. By the time I'd found someone stupid enough to want to ride this with me, the places are gone.

If anyone is gonna cancel or not turn up, please let me know.

  • Balls. Did you ask in Brixton Cycles?

  • I'd say turn up on the day and speak with the organisers. I did the Surrey Rumble like this. People will always drop out on the day.

  • I picked up the very last entry from Brixton cycles on Saturday. First I was told that all entries were gone, but after some scrounging around an entry was found. Really looking forward to this.

Respect i saw it today and tried to ride up the other way round not even a quarter of the way i bailed out. i am now worried about this ride.

  • With all this banter about Canonbie Rd, thought I'd go take a look this morning... I'd say Anerley Hill or Gypsy Hill are more work than this? I'll be doing this 46x18 freewheel - I'm not exactly Mr. Muscles... View from the top is a nice surprise.
