Ziggy got 5 years ("thats all we've got").
-

How is that only 3 years? Scary to see someone actually do it I've had plenty veer towards me to try and shit me up

I'm surprised, I was expecting a suspended sentence with the "cares for mother" and pregnant as qualifiers. Although being surprised at someone getting a custodial sentence for someone deliberately injuring a cyclist and leaving them in intensive care shows the state of general sentencing for this kind of thing.

The judge was very strong in his comments when sentencing. Wished she'd gotten 5 years, but it's relatively satisfying. Wonder what would have happened without the CCTV.

Very little I would imagine

Banned from driving for 4.5 years.. What does someone have to do to get banned for life?!
-
• #7635
Well this is what gets you 6 years in jail and a 10 year ban

There is so much wrong with sentences for dangerous and violent driving and it saddens me deeply. It's cause and effect too, low recourse means that people don't respect the lethality of driving.

:( Why should they get to drive again. Driving is a privilege not a right. I just don't understand.

Today I called 101 and actually reported a driver, for the first time. The call handler was very pleasant but it reminded me that I need to be a gopro-warrior in future, because I had no proof. Audi A4 driver started beeping behind me, waving his hand pointing and shouting through his windscreen for me to get off the road, and punish passed me as soon as possible, sticking a middle finger out his window at me all the way down the road, at the junction, and up the next road.
The road in question is gentle downhill, straight, potholed to fuck, and I was going at around 20. Speed limit is at most 30 along there, and there are loads of traffic-calming islands, a school, bus stops and so on. Course the guy got real far, what with the red light at the end, and my bike arriving within seconds of him even after slowing down during the pass.
Daily occurrence.

The extra sad thing is that 10 year ban is likely to run concurrently with the years in jail (when they wouldn't be driving because they are in jail), so the actual ban is even less time. :(

They should have a test for the others on the road so when the learners take the test the other people have also been tested.

I thought the law had changed on that so bans only start once you're out of prison?
-
• #7642
Think so too
(Edit - wrong link, hang on...)

Meh - looks pretty standard. I got selfies, blokes, funny shit and a cat. Not too different to my Instagram to be fair albeit the blokes I gram tend to be dressed in Lycra

The comments from others are appalling, on the other hand.
-
• #7646
Sounds grim. I never read the comments.
-
• #7647
That's good, glad to know that's the case!
-
• #7649
£10 on him continuing to drive regardless

Emails seem to say police might actually do something about this one.
I wonder if that white van that drives past the rider at the end of the video had some involvement in the prosecution? It looks like they're driving past and then reverse and turn into the street to follow her.
