Reported to Roadsafe for what it's worth... "From the cycle path across Finsbury Park, I joined Seven Sisters Road at the ASL box heading East. The traffic lights were red. When they changed to green I pulled off and crossed the Manor house junction heading east down Seven Sisters Road. The silver Mercedes described above drove behind me sounding it's horn, and then drew alongside as I entered the bus lane. The passenger window of the car was open, and the driver was shouting at me that I should get out of the way. I told him to leave me alone*, but he became increasingly agitated; swearing and abusive, driving parallel to me shouting that I should pull over and threatening to hit me. I continued cycling and he on 2-3 occasions swerved towards me. When the bus lane ended he then drove behind me sounding the horn in an aggressive and intimidating manor. I cycled through a red light at an empty pedestrian crossing in order to get away from him, and was able to continue past stationary traffic further along Seven sisters road to get to safety".
*flicked him the bird, and when he persisted spat a gobful of phlegm right threw his window.

I don't think spitting at him through an open window was a wise move...

Spitting is assault, not wise..

Inverse relationship between adrenalin levels and wisdom of action. Different parts of the brain in play. Not proud of it, but no regrets... He didn't swerve towards me again afterwards. And let's face it, wiping phlegm off of his seat is the only negative outcome the twat will get for his unprovoked aggression. Even if the police review any cctv, what chance the driver will be reprimanded in any way? I'd bet my house and car on low odds.

I think the distinction is spitting on the person? which is classified as assault.

Very minging, got spat on a while ago by a van driver who keep shouting at me to stay on the kerb.
Police can't be arsed and driver got caught without insurance (karma).
I was wondering whether it's still assault if spat in the car or not, doubtful.

Spitting is weak, if I'm dishing out bodily fluids I'm going to make it count.

You're going to jizz on them?

Been knocked off my bike this morning. On the cs3 near limehouse, car pulled out from a junction into the side of me.
It was give way his side of the cycle lane so I had the priority but he "didn't see me" and pulled out hitting my front wheel.
I was going probably about 20mph and luckily I just landed on my face.
Got his number plate and pictures of his car but he told me to call him and tell him the cost of repairs and he'd pay up.
Got the number of a witness too.
Reported to the popo, going in after a&e to add details to the case.
Stitches in my chin and a couple of chipped teeth, my knee is also pretty achey but I think it's fine
Ouch

Sorry to hear that. But glad you seem to be ok - heal up quick!
Keep an eye on that knee though. These things are often worse after a few days and the extent of some injuries isn't immediately obvious. And don't underestimate the cost of dental work. I think the driver will be getting a rude awakening when he realises the cost of that!

CS3 near Limehouse is Cable Street, no?
-
• #5669
Fuck just billing him for bike repairs. Get him to pay for injuries too.
-
• #5670
I'll try my best. I'm awaiting an xray at the dental hospital presently.
-
• #5671
Glad you're not hurt worse, Phil, shame about the teeth. :(
Which junction was it, out of interest?
Heal up soon!
-
• #5672
On the B126 and the corner of Stepney causeway
Yeah could have been a lot worse, I'm not bad at all, just the teeth obviously
Could be up to £2k dental fees depending how the teeth heal over the next couple weeks -

file a police report and get a lawyer on the case, driver will baulk at paying out, so no point in trying to get it out of them personally. Let the lawyers and his insurance squabble about it. Money will take a while to get to you probably over a year so be prepared for the wait..
Heal up.. -

We need a sticky for 'What to do in the event of a collision' - read too many posts on here of 'didn't get police involved, driver said they'd just pay up' followed by a post a bit later saying 'driver refusing to pay up'.
Getting chipped teeth fixed? That's going to cost hundreds if not thousands of pounds. You MUST get the police involved. You MUST. DO IT NOW.
Did you get the drivers reg details, description, name?

https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/131099/ is already a sticky
