Just use the RGB scale when describing skin tone.

Your phrase 'I know my rights as a cyclist...' is of course perfectly correct, but it's also the sort of thing that Daily Mail readers and Tories really hate, so there's a chance it might lead to them taking your complaint less seriously, if you get one of those people on the other end. I'd maybe suggest rephrasing it as 'I know the law on cycle lanes...', or something like that.

On the roadsafe form it requests the use of skin colour as an identifier, there is nothing inherently weird about describing someone using obvious physical signs.
It wasn't the mention of skin colour I was saying was weird, it was the specific description 'black or African' which reads a bit oddly. It's (a bit) like saying 'white or European'.
Anyway, as I said, the main thing is you've been 'lucky' enough to be abused by someone representing the one motoring organisation that has generally been very pro-cycling and therefore I'd imagine they'll take it very seriously. Particularly if you CC in Edmund King.

^ Or just state it matter-of-fact, 'The Highway Code section X.X states...', and take any element of 'I know my rights!' out of it.
Speaking of the highway code; did the chap have to take both hands from the wheel to retrieve and brandish his copy at you?

^ Yeah, better still

Pantone pls

Don't forget to mention that the Highway Code also stated that they should overtake you as they would a car, even if you're on a cycle lane, he'd still have to do this.

Thx all. All points noted.
I did specifically look up racial categories and found that 'black or African' seemed to fit the purpose. -

Was it Chris Froome? He's African. Or that raspberry fella who shot his girlfriend?
Raspberry is an ok term to use for him isn't it? I haven't looked it up but my granddad uses it all the time and he's nice enough.
Thinking about it, he calls black people darkies, just put that, they'll know what you mean.

Ageist.

Is raspberry a racial description? Who for, pink people with bobbledy heads?

Raspberry ripple = cripple
A few of my mrs wheelchair bound pals use it. Mainly for the shock factor but they're South African so can be extra shock if they really wanted too

If he was black then say he was black. You don't know he was African so just state he was black.
Good luck with the complaint.

I'd also get hold of the DVLA or ORDIT or whoever it is that handles ADI licencing (I forget) as the AA just handles the guys franchise that sort of behaviour shouldn't be allowed to just carry over to another franchise if they reprimand him.

I tapped on someone's window yesterday for the first time. I was filtering through slowly moving traffic in Rusholme, generally a bad thing to do but I was being careful. Guy in a small white Audi does the indicate and pull up at the same time without checking thing and I have to slam on the brakes, managed to do a sweet skid on the fully laden 5 tonne work bike. He rolled down his window and I politely asked him to be a bit more careful and check before pulling up next time, he apologises and I thank him. All very amicable.
