Cyclist rammed from behind then threatened and abused, partly the cyclist's fault, say the cops:
That's what we're up against, lazy, ignorant cops who aren't fit for the job.
Based on my experiences and the response of officers in this dreadful clip what is stopping me from not bothering to call the police and just issue D-lock justice? These people clearly cannot be reasoned with and fly at the victim with 100% aggression and blame.

Just swore at a couple in a car, I was in primary in a bus lane and they beeped me and the delightful woman in the passenger seat shouted at me to move over, they squeezed past so that they could undertake the traffic in the other lane.
I hope your fella catches cockrot off your dad. -

I was having a bit of mime-based convo with a driver this morning. He seemed a little dismissive so I calmly retrieved my d-lock from my belt and held in my hand while looking straight at him. He seemed to quieten down, and subsequently gave me about 8 foot when passing through the junction...

It's funny how memories doesnt match the footage
I'd like to dissent slightly - still worth reporting because he deliberately and knowingly swerves towards you, which is dangerous, an assault, and taxi drivers Should Know Better. police won't do anything but as ever it may go down on record for further run-ins.
So yeah, your cycling was hardly faultless - you joined his lane and undertook in a tiny gap - had you slotted in behind he'd probably not see you as a "threat". But ultimately he's the one in the position of potential murder who deliberately tried to hit or harm you.

Roadsafe are pissing me off. Twice last week I reported near-misses to them, and yesterday I got a response to both: first one, apparently I didn't give them enough details so they were unable to proceed (though the coach company - who I gave all the same info to - were able to give their driver a warning), the second one, again, not enough info (to be fair, I didn't have the reg number, but that's thanks to the cocksocket AL driver fucking off at high speed),
In both responses they're like "yeah, sorry we're not going to do anything, I hope you don't feel like you've massively wasted your time and that no one cares about you being run off the road, please don't reply to this email". What's the fucking point?
Last night a bus drove at me twice, I have the details and I probably should report it, but what's to gain - nothing seems to change and I just end up wound up.
Ho hum.

If you have the bus details you can complain to tfl directly, i've done this before and got a positive response from them.

Deffo report it hats, to roadsafe and TfL. I know it's disheartening but if no one reports theses knuckle-draggers then nothing will ever change. We have to keep plugging away reporting them and hope that someone takes notice..

Sent to TFL and Roadsafe after a bus nearly squished me this morning. Does anyone else find that the out of service buses all seem to have really bad drivers?
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to complain about the driving of one of your buses this morning.
I was cycling along Isledon Road in primary position in the left-hand lane at 9.08am (near the intersection with Steve Biko Road) on a white road bike (I was wearing a claret t-shirt).
Ahead of me was a white truck/van in the next lane over. As I was riding a bus started to pass me very closely (I am sure that you are aware that the highway code states that a cyclist should be given at least as much when being overtaken as a car) forcing me in towards the kerb.
I assume that the driver then saw the vehicle up ahead in the next lane as they then cut right in towards the kerb, into the space that I was cycling in. I have no doubt that if I had not slowed drastically the rear wing of the bus would have hit me as there was no other road space available. I fear that a less experienced cyclist, who recognised the danger fractionally later would be hit by the driver performing this manoeuvre which, given the traffic, there clearly wasn’t enough room to do.
The bus was an out of service 254 (possibly a 253) with the registration LJ03 MSV. I passed the bus on the stand on Tollington Rd at 9.11am and noted that the driver was a black male wearing a leather cap.
I assume, given the information above that you will be able to access the CCTV on this bus and view for yourself this highly dangerous piece of driving. I trust that, before the driver is allowed out again he will receive sufficient disciplinary/training action so that he will not contemplate performing such a dangerous manoeuvre in the future.
I would appreciate being kept updated with the progress of this investigation.
Kind regards,

^^ This - I've definitely had more close passes and aggressive driving from out of services buses than any other.
Well written letter too.

What actually happens with the Roadsafe reports?
I have to say it does feel like a massive waste of time, and that the coppers only act once an ambo has had to be called.

actually, you'd be mistaken!
to my surprise, i got a response from an officer regarding reporting anti-social driving (in case its later useful if that same driver/car is involved in anything more serious): the officer ran some checks on the car, and was perhaps willing to investigate / pursue the matter further had i more evidence (e.g. CCTV / witnesses etc.);
it also feels good to be able to feedback against some slight.. :-)

So, what you are saying is that nothing actually happened?
-

The roadsafe website is pretty clear that if you expect something to happen regarding an individual incident, you have to report it as an offence.
-
• #3715
True, I guess I'm just annoyed at how pointless it all feels.
Whenever I've reported anything as an offence (for example a woman drove her mercedes into my rear wheel whilst we were both doing ~20mph the other day), the Police always ask "was there an injury?", and as soon as you say "no" they totally lose interest.
It's maddening- you offer the chance to modify a poor drivers behaviour BEFORE they seriously hurt someone and the Police don't give a flying fuck.

Sometimes it seems the police are not too bothered altogether...

My spidey-senses tingled last night, so I glanced over my shoulder. There's a red mini about to hit me, a worried looking instructor pushing the steering wheel over to the right and a confused/apathetic looking young girl driving.
All's well that ends well. I just hope that she improves before they let her out on her own.
-
• #3718
Maybe she was actually the instructor.

• #3719
The passenger was tynan, obviously.

I reported a bus that tried to squash a colleague and I last year, still yet to hear back from them. The bus driver was a tool, after swerving at us repeatedly he then swore at us at a junction. Obviously not a big enough deal for TFL to do anything about.

I finally reported it this morning, let's see whether anything comes of it.

My personal theory is that there is a hamster living in the Roadsafe offices and they take all the reports and shred them to make lovely soft hamster bedding.

huh - assuming your rear wheel was damaged (?),
take registration number, insurance details, name, address and inform her that this will be passed onto solicitors etc..., surely take cash-in-hand if offered (!), else, pursue in the courts via the LCC Solicitors no????
RoadSafe seems to be for logging driver misbehaviour, for the police to have visibility of a driver's real-world record (!), from my experience, i'd have thought that if a driver/car has a certain amount of negg's that they might get in touch with that person and give them the creepers! (given that they 'ran checks' on a vehicle after just one logging of anti-social driving!)
