I spent Sunday afternoon at Stoke Newington police shack. They were actually really good, took a quick statement and advised that it was indeed "common assault" and Have given all the details, registration plate details. When they entered the reg number there was a raised eyebrow and the guy got up an went to the back office for a minute. wouldn't say why. Intriguing. They also took the wad of spit that I had to wipe off myself, I kept in a little bag and they took it as evidence. Will see what happens but I may have to give a further statement. The police did seem to take it very seriously.
So it turns out the police were extremely helpful with this. The spit sample I provided was matched to a suspects DNA (and proved him to be the scooters owner) and he has been charged for multiple items, including an assault on an officer and my assault. Also for some other things that they can't tell me about. So it proves no matter how silly you might feel walking in to report an incident with a tissue full of spit it can get results. The detective I was assigned was extremely pro-active during the last 2 months and have to say was very good. I guess there were other more serious charges that maybe motivated them more than usual, still feels good though helping to get a bad dude off the streets,at least for a short while.

This one is a dangerous driver, but not related to anyone on a bike. A private hire vehicle made a scarily close pass, at speed, to my wife on a zebra crossing. There was a man with his kids on the crossing too. Even though a car which was travelling in the opposite direction had stopped, the minicab thought it was OK to carry on at about 40mph, passing in front of the people crossing by no more that 18". My wife said she was very shaken by it. Anyhow, he pulled into a petrol station up the road, and she went up to confront him, taking pictures of his reg number and minicab license disk. He was agressive and rude. Where do I report this... Roadsafe? the Public Carriage Office? the Police - if so where? Any tips?

He failed to yield in the levers crossing and exceed the speed limit, report it to the police.
-
• #3457
For sure. Do I use the roadsafe mechanism for that, or actually report it elsewhere, to the real police (if you get what I mean)?
From reading this thread, it seems to me the most action comes from employers... I am hoping we can find out who he works for via the Public Carriage Office. They must reveal that?
-
• #3458
Roadsafe is more of a statistic gathering, you might get lucky, you might not.
Contacting the employer is the best course of action, but it does need reported.
-
• #3459
Ed, don't worry, it is going to get reported.
So, it should go to Roadsafe. And it should go to the "normal" Police as well. How best to do that? Go down to the local nick?
How do we find the employers? Will the Public Carriage Office tell us this?

Hello,
I'm afraid to be the bearer of bad news, but I have a dangerous experience with one of your driver in a Vauxhall Astra company van regs AA12DAY.
As I was going southbound on Collier Wood High Street after going through the junction, your driver for some reason decided to perform what we call a "Punishment Pass" to teach me a lesson when he have a chance to overtake me, he almost sideswiped me while stepping on the accelerator before performing an emergency stop and manoeuvre due to a vehicle coming out of a side road (Coverton Road) that he almost collide with.
I suspect the reason for his aggressive driving behaviour is that he was frustrated that I was in the primary position due to a traffic island that have no room for two vehicles to pass through safety.
I was quite shaken up by this and I must admitted I sworn quite loudly at the driver moment after he "teach me a lesson".
I would be grateful if you can have a word with the driver at that particular moment (6/06/12 at 12:30 pm), I understand he does not represent your company as a whole, but with the way he was driving aggressively, other may not come to the same conclusion as me.
Best Regards
Edward Scoble.

Tosser bus driver this morning. Don't overtake me when you are so close to a bus stop and have to stop 3 feet away from the kerb because I'm still on the inside of you.
At least you didn't try to close me down and you wern't one of the 'bendy buses' Brighton has now got due to them killing too many cyclists in London.
You are on video and I'm still debating if I sent the footage to the company.

This is a true thing. I will.
To be honest most Brighton bus drivers are good around bikes.

The bendy buses have never killed anyone in London, it's just Boris spinning his marketing tactic.

So how many bike riders were killed by articulated buses in London?

Ah snap.
Surely the offence against taste is more important?
