You know what we also have?
A mouth.
Drivers are more likely to hear and respond to a horn than someone shouting.
Taypet is indeed a nutjob, but the driver is totally at fault here.

[This is pretty long,, and I didn't even get the number plate or report anything, so sorry. I don't know where else to put it. It does have (threatened) violence and a car chase though!]
I got chased/menaced by some guys while I was out for a ride to play bike tag earlier this afternoon. A car overtook me with clearly not enough room, very nearly physically pushing me into the curb and railings while we were both moving fast - it would have if I hadn't slowed down to get out the back of it. I should have been riding further out at this point but I hadn't realised the road narrowed and the car was already coming up on me when I went to move.
I slapped the side of the car as I slowed, because I was pissed off that he didn't seem to care if he knocked me off. In hindsight it is probably a bad idea to slap the side of fully murdered out cars. Especially when they seem to have some shitty body kit that the owner is probably worried about getting broken by the slightest touch. Anyway a guy leaned out of the passenger side and made a really angry face and beckoned to me. As the car slowed and I caught up he started shouting and it became clear that he didn't like people touching the car and in fact he was so angry he was going to "fucking chop [me] up".
I went round the other side and tried to lose them in the traffic, they tried to catch up while being hindered by the traffic, a way down the road they finally got ahead (at least they didn't just drive into me) shooting past at speed and stopping a short distance away while I slowed so as not to go into the back of them. The guy leaned out and beckoned to me again and in a cunning ploy I nodded at him, which just as I hoped he evidently took to mean "yes I will come and allow you to chop me up now" but which actually meant "yes stop your car and start getting out so I can go round the other side and dart down this turning here".
They followed me round but I went round a load of corners, doubled back on myself, then sat down and had a smoke. Then I started to head back the way I wanted to go but I saw the car driving past the end of a road just as I approached it (on foot) so I went home instead.

Horrible, hope you weren't too shaken up afterwards. Pity you didn't get their number too, because that is clearly way way out of order.

"So I went home instead"
Hah, good call. I bet you were thinking "fuck this tag, it's not worth it."
I'd never slap on a car, not that it in anyway negates dangerous driving, but it ironically often appears more offensive than reckless driving, and gives them ammunition to abuse their inertial dominance.

Yeah, I do it occasionally if some starts to squeeze me, sometimes they move back and a guy said sorry once, but as demonstrated it is maybe not always advisable.

Some crazy business in Bristol. Driver cuts up cyclist, claims he wasn't where he was and then drives off!
Update:
http://www.cyclechat.net/threads/electric-cyclist-down-in-bristol.97238/page-6
If anyone is interested I was asked by the Police to drop the video into the Police station as the driver had reported the accident & was wanting to make a claim against me for damages to the car & of course she did not have my details & the officer dealing with this seemed matter fact & was doing his job.
I was able to drop a copy of the video into the not so local police station that was seemed to be the only one in Bristol that is open after 5pm as this officer would be on duty.
On arrival at the Police station I found that he was not available & left the video for him, I thought then I may hear back next week some time.
Two hours later I received a phone call on my mobile from this officer who started the conversation with these words*" I viewed the video & had my boss view it, we have 3 counts of due care & 1 count of leaving the scene & we can do the following:
- give a verbal caution
- send her on a driving re-fresher course, which will cost her about £120
- take her to court if you are willing to pursue this
not putting words into your mouth but I suggest the third option as I have not seen such bad driving for a long time "*
I went for the third option & he then said he would contact her to make a statement under caution.
He then wanted to know where I got the camera from, what is was & how good it was to be able to have evidence like this.
I thanked him & he said he would be in touch during the next week.
15 minutes later the phone rang again & I heard this nice speaking policeman talking in a more aggressive voice saying- " I have just spoken to Mrs. X & told her what was going to happen & now we may go for DANGEROUS DRIVING as I have never been spoken to like she did to me before, she is oblivious to what she has done, I am sorry to have to ring you again but if I can I will see you tomorrow at your shop for a statement"*
All I can say is never piss off a copper that is holding a loaded video.
Fair play to johnny law.
- give a verbal caution

Another commute, another near wipe out.
Riding up the hill of doom, coming the other way, is a van (trashed LDV) towing another van (scrap fodder merc with no engine/ front end/ windscreen/doors etc) with its rear axle locked, one wheel is dragging in the tarmac, the other still has a tyre on it. And they're cooking, going 30+ with this wild LWB locked up scrap merc all over the shop behind it.
Ok so thats bad right?
Wrong. Gets worse.
Some tool decides its a great place to overtake (right into me), they probably couldn't see me because of the smoke, sparks + red rage of being stuck behind the scrap merc; which swung out wildly at exactly the wrong time. FFSEarlier in the day, other way, same bit of road, fiesta overtakes me, then pulls left on me immediatly. thank fuck I was on a more modern bike today, dual pull brakes + fresh pads saved my ass. Was so unbelievably close to going under back left wheel I could taste blood.

Walked out of my front door this morning to see a guy in a suit with a Boris bike and a black cab driver swinging at each other in the middle of the street.
'London...' I thought, wryly.

Just went for a little errand and on the way back I came down old street, I was just past the foundry heading towards the shoreditch high street junction when a women cycling in front of me stopped and picked up some litter which had been thrown from a car window next to her.
They seemed to be refusing to take it, so I passed the car on the right. As I got round it and in front, the passenger in the front wound his window down and I heard him shout "slag" and "bitch" and then he spat at her from the open window. I was quite shocked at this reaction, I had expected to be honest, a "fuck off" or similar but this was disgusting.
I pulled over and asked the victim if she had a phone and wanted to call the cops, she didn't (I'm not even sure what they could have done). I asked if she was ok and if she wanted to take a time out off the road for 5mins but she replied that she was ok, although she did look visibly shaken.
This is a warning to stay out of the way of a Black BMW X6(I think) reg GP08 DWY.
Truly disgusting behavior!

There are plenty of online services where you can double check if you got the number plate and car details right.
This for example:

Yeah, I do it occasionally if some starts to squeeze me, sometimes they move back and a guy said sorry once, but as demonstrated it is maybe not always advisable.
I've had similar occur to me coming along Tavistock Place/Gordon Square (though not with any exciting chase). I tend to avoid the awful bike path along this stretch and favour the road, many car drivers don't seem to appreciate this. On this particular occasion one of the white, unmarked vans with cameras on each corner overtakes with his window open and shouts something regarding getting on the bike path. I ignore and overtake at the next lights.
Next time he overtakes he starts to squeeze me into the curb. I bang on the side of the van; mostly to inform him of my position though I guess partly out of anger (he obviously was aware of where I was). Cue the van stopping, two thick-set guys jumping out, flashing me some form of ID before informing me that I've made a big mistake, whilst pointing at the cameras. It didn't take them too long to disappear once I'd suggested that anyone checking over the footage may want to review their own driving prior to finding fault with my behavior.
Stupidly I'd made a mental note of the number plate but then managed to forget it, lesson learnt, take notes immediately following any incident.

I always avoid that bike path as well, and I cycle around the area a lot. I find up by Waterstone's is where people have a problem with it mostly but I've never had anyone actually squeeze me! Glad you didn't get hurt, and what the hell was the ID they flashed that they thought permitted their behaviour? Registered cunt licence?

having never seen/heard of these vans before until I read this yesterday I was surprised to see one of these slow down along old street this morning just so the driver could give me the stink-eye as I was hobbling along the pavement on the other side of the road. he was seriously eye-balling me. was most odd.

I love how angry that whole website is.
"How DARE these people collect evidence of us using excessive speed in contravention of regulations! It's an outrage! A stealth tax! They're victimising us!"

I once found a cab driver's blog where the most recent post was a long lament about how he'd been ticketed for speeding "again" and how he was struggling to make ends meet because he kept having to pay all these fines for speeding.
Now the solution to this "problem" seemed pretty fantastically fucking obvious to me but it was clear that he thought it completely unfair and that the concept of not speeding was completely alien to him.
