  • Do people really free lock?

    "free lock"

I cant believe its even a phrase.

How did we derive "free lock" from "I locked it to fuck all"

free lock is perfectly fine providing the bicycle in question are usually those heavy old dutch bike, however only free lock when you're just popping in to a shop/restaurant where you can see your bike/bike is way too heavy to be carried by two people.

  • Well, Im glad that is settled.

I'll stick to locking my bicycle to a mounted object.

I'll stick to locking my bicycle to a mountie object.

Not too common in London though.

  • Just the front wheel alone;

basically the front wheel weight as much as one and a half frame.

  • Or maybe they have a life?

    +1

People do seem to get very excited about this and take it very personally. I love the "the is LFGSS and we have the right to know the details of your locking arrangements if you dare to post on here" attitude. Of all the things to get so judgemental about...

  • So, what did you lock up with Markyboy? :)

  • Tell us, damn you!!!

  • No!

funniest thing is it didn't this much attention when it was post 2 or 3 days prior to the op.

  • Ha! I see.

  • Haha good point marky. Someone's asking for help in nabbing their bike back, should we happen to see it, and given a decent description of what it is like. The fact that it's obviously loved, and was outside a university building, suggests that they secured it in a way they deemed approprite, whatever the outcome. Seems like a lot of university/college building racks are a big target to theives.

Posting a pic of the bike would be a good idea though, OPer, if you have one. Bad luck, hope you get it back.

  • Wow, everyone got a little excited there. Locked, freelocked, unlocked, courier, not a courier.. Bikes get nicked all the time and it's always unfortunate.

Yes, but some people like nothing more than saying "told you so"

  • I thought as much.. I mean, I told you so!

  • yeah, i just leant it against a railing and fucked off,
or did i try and stick it to the railing with melted cheese
i know how to lock a fucking bike up
good luck when this happens to you and all you get is a load of sarcy emails
    i really appreciate it

  • chiiiilll. What if GA2G was just interested in case he (or others) might use the same lock and didn't want to get their bikes nicked also?

    Will look out for it

i don't buy this. has there ever been a case where something revelatory has come from the unfortunate person that has had their bike nicked?

I have never seen a 'ooh, shit, that's a new one - better change how we all lock", only posts suggesting that person either had the wrong lock, wrong technique or "freelocked" (come on). EXACTLY what i'd like to hear if i had a bike nicked.

remind me not to post asking for help if my bike gets nicked.

  • thank you BRM!

  • btw, i rode around brick lane on yesterday around midday but saw nothing like your bike,
keep a lookout on gumtree as well

  • Thanks for trying

  • yeah, now weigh it WITHOUT GA2G on it!

Mate, I don't ever mind fat jokes about me.....and frankly, that was funny.

He probably just couldn't stand the thought of having to get into a conversion with you and actually read any of your boring, preachy drivel.

Scraggie borsha, I don't know you, and since BDW's double telling off, I'll be nicer than is natural for me; but honestly this whole thing has been totally sewn up by Bmmf and Nimbhus.

If you wish to rile me, or be abusive, do try to be original.

  • thanks

  • This thread is useless without pictures

  • so how was the bike locked and what lock was used?
