I can e-mail them, but where is the tweak hinted at? I couldn't see it in the FAQ?

On the SC emailing list.

Ah yes, I've just found it. No further info. I think if there was any material change, they would already have announced it, but I'll ask just in case. I've been meaning to say I can help, anyway, but haven't been in touch yet as I've been unsure that I'll ride it.

What time are people leaving? I'm arriving into Euston about quarter-to-eight then about half-an-hour's ride to London Fields (?). Be nice to start out with a group, even if I get dropped.

• #506
i think people generally set off ay 9pm

Any follow up to this? Also, is anyone up for doing this antisocially quickly? I know it's not the point of the whole thing, but it's how I get my kicks.

All of those who have paid for the coach should find in their email box this morning an email about a mailing list.
Basically... to ensure that during the event everyone can stay in touch, and to assist with logistics prior to the event surrounding the coach back, there is an email mailing list.
Should anyone else want to join that, then it can be found here:
http://lists.lfgss.com/listinfo/dd2010People should still use this thread for general stuff... but the mailing list should be used for logistics around the coach and more specific stuff.

Oh, and I'm keen to use Google Latitude during the event as a vague guide to helping if anyone has trouble.
Google Latitude is an addition to Google Maps and allows you to share your location with other people.
I know it works really well on Blackberrys and Android phones... not sure how it works on iPhone but pretty sure it does work.
If you want to add each other then use the mailing list to give out your email addresses and I'll make sure that the mailing list stays private.
The Seldom Killer doesn't have a smart phone, but I may just give him an iPad 3G for the weekend so that he's not entirely bored shitless whilst waiting for us :) I'll install Latitude on that for him.

Now I need a Google Latitude - Worms hybrid so I can pretend to kill you all with exploding sheep.

Sorry for being slow in getting back on the halfway stop. Barry writes:
The floor of the village hall at Great Waldingfield is taking longer to renovate than the Rye Lane contraflow so we've moved the Dunwch Dynamo half way stop away from there.....the website FAQs will soon be changed to read.....
Around 55 miles out the village hall at Sible Hedingham
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=577936&Y=234184&A=Y&Z=110will be specially opened by lovely people and you can buy hot drinks and good basic food there......
On the last Dynamo, I heard that the Great Waldingfield floor was so warped because of the extremely wet 2007 edition, but I have no idea if that's true. I nearly fell over one of the ridges last year.

Is there a route map anywhere?
-
• #514
http://www.londonschoolofcycling.co.uk/root.html links to http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2096474, not sure if this is accurate or not though

IIRC that gmap route doesn't take in sible hedingham village hall, which is right here
(am now quite familiar with route having redrawn it like 5 times on bikeroutetoaster trying to get it transferred to a garmin 205)
**edit: should totally have read oliver's post. this is merely reiteration. **

anyone know a free latitude app for the iphone, or if theres no free one then which is best?
-
• #517
From what I can tell, there is no app, you just open google.com/latitude (and maybe save it to your home screen)

6pt: define unsocially fast?

So does anyone have an up to date (new rest stop) map available?

Thanks, I might try make one up tonight

@velocio, here. Slightly too many course points for a Garmin to handle, but it'll still have the pink line all the way to Dunwich. The route is based on the 'official' list of villages, though could be economised a little, e.g. cutting out fyfield, finchingfield, etc. (nota bene, I plotted this for personal use and cannot be held responsible for any navigational errors that may arise from its use)
@damo: last year I did it in 6:40 riding time. This year I'm for 6 hours flat and I don't really plan on stopping.

• #522
Wheres the 'new' rest stop? Is it the same one as last year?
I was planning on using the gpx import off of the southwark cyclists route which has the 2008 route on it (which was apparently also used last year - although I suffered from garmin fail so can't confirm)
anyone? -
• #523
6pt: probably a little faster than i could hope for.....

I will probably be making a tray of these before hand - would be happy to bring some in return for a donation to the forum if anyone wanted some? They are nice and not too sweet!

Hey, question, is anyone having his/her girlfriend/partner/wifey coming up there to meet them in the morning.
Are they driving somehow? If so, would there be a place in the car for my g/f? No place for the way back required!
I've just noted on the Southwark Cyclists Website that there might be a tweak to the half-way feed station. Is anyone able to get in touch with either Barry Mason of Southwark Cyclists or Patrick Field of London School of Cycling to glean any details? If so, PM me as soon as possible. Cheers.
