Ok, I am no lawyer. Nor am I a legal expert.
Surely simply the fact that the damage occurred on private property has nothing to do with it, as it was a station, there was an implied right of way. This is the same reason that the postman/bailiff etc can deliver to your front door without trespassing. I would imagine that if there is a visible sign (from where you locked up) saying "at your own risk" etc. then they are covered from responsibility for theft. However, if they removed your bike, without prior warning (i.e. a visible sign informing you that bikes locked here would be removed) then the removal may be illegal, or, failing that, unlawful.
Paging new2fix or newt as he
s also known.. he
s the forumenger that can help us out with this litigation stuff, he`s studying to be a lawyer, i hear. -

you can't lock anything to British rail, old British rail property. from way back, the IRA used bikes as bombs In 1979, they concealed the explosives within the tubes, in fact I am sure there are many zones in London where anything locked to rails unattended will be removed. They should have left a note letting you know.
I was stopped and held, for fifteen min's, when i locked my bike to a rail near the law courts, I refused to move it. the copper said she could take it and I would get billed, so I did. -

when oliver wakes up this thread is going to be derailed i reckon. whoever took it needs to go for retraining.
Out all day, I'm afraid. Anticlimactic thread. So teddy locked it somewhere where it was removed by security people. So what? That happens to people around Whitehall all the time. I was relieved that it was something so harmless. If you want to start a forum meme, at least think of a proper catchphrase, like 'Oh Teddy, have Mercian us' or something. :)
