He can sit in the main triangle of my frame.

Ha, his GF might spot him there though. Best to keep him under wraps, at least until we're outside the M25.

There's a plan.
I'm going to sleep, my body hurts, see ya!

I don't think anyone's going to be signing up at this late stage so I'm going to tell the campsite that the six free pitches are available for them to sell. We won't get the deposit back, but hopefully the campsite can make some money from them.
On the very small offchance that anyone else does want to come then some of the pitches are big enough for more than one tent so it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm loving the fact that dropout hasn't dropped out....QUOTE]
I'm definitely in, folks. Will join you at the Tooting meet-up. Glad to see Max is going stoically forward but, what needs 'healing' with him (more than the usual?).
[QUOTE=aimka;1254369]...windstopper is a must. and warm socks/shoes. and double gloves.
Sounds like sage advice. Two pairs of warm socks inside the shoes and overshoes, er, over.
Something under the sleeping bag also a v.good idea because loss of warmth is largely to the ground.
It's going to be balmy anyway. /attachments/22269

Wicked news. Let's hope it's relatively dry too.
I have confirmed with my family that they can cope without me this weekend... phew.
What are people doing about cooking? I don't want to carry loadsa stuff, but considering bringing a trangia. Anyone else want to talk about equipment and what could be shared / split up to carry?
Still not sure what to do about tent. Mine's is a little too large to carry on my own (was originally going to share/split photoben's) ... and mine's too large to sleep one. Might bring just the fly though, and a light groundsheet. Considering a bivvibag, not much fun in rain though.

Me and Scott are bringing a stove for tea-making purposes - and possibly beans in the morning - but I'm intending to bring some veggie sausages and vegetables and stuff and do most of it on the barbecue. I am also planning on bringing cake.
Think I'm going to have that and the camping stuff in my panniers and then bring a rucksack for filling with beer from a shop once we're nearly there.

If anyone wants to borrow my CETMA rack pm me.

@tricity
Good idea to leave some room or bring an extra bag for stocking up once we're in the neighbourhood. -

Credit Card + Mobile Phone = Pizza :-)

Extra bag? are you mad?
Can we not get there, pitch tent, unpack bag and go for a ride -
• #516
Or, alternatively, find a local shop for disposable BBQ + whatever I can grill.
I may be hungry.

yea we allerm, got really important things to do, nothing to do with wanting to watch the rugby and being incredibly lazy, anyway, another spot up for grabs if anyone wants it.
What the hell.
You are going to miss an pretty much ideal day of riding. Scattered clouds, a tailwind, about 10 degrees and really good company. I wish I were back on this ride and if my girlfriend weren't ill we'd be there in a second. What's worse is you'll be missing it to do something that may be dull and certainly could be done at a later date thanks to the miracles of readily accessible technology.
I still clearly remember my best ever bit of cycling and camping. We had cooked breakfast in a bike shop in Golden in British Columbia, rode through the crazy little town of Field and then up over a railtrack that spirals through the mountain to make a descent before camping in Lake Louise. After it was -2C overnight we rode up the Icefields Parkway (toll waived by a freindly warden because he thought cycling across Canada was a cool thing to try) to see the worlds bluest lake in the world before sipping coffee in shorts and Tshirt just a mile or so away from three massive glaciers and then made an very fast tailwind fed descent of the Kootenay Plains.
Adventures like that don't happen slouched in front of the telly and while I doubt anything quite as epic will happen this weekend, there's no way watching the rugby won't be shit in comparisson.
Thanks a lot, I'm now even more gutted that I won't be there. I hope your team takes a massive drubbing.

OK sorry I'm confused.
Tommy is out?
Ok yeah we'll take my big-ish tent and share. I'll meet you where? E&C works for me. I'll try to be early and I can give you half of it to carry there?
That means that there's another pitch no longer needed, right? The list is confusing me.
-
• #521
So... The last time the list was posted it still had Tommy B and joe smith, and Charco and Gormley sharing, me on my own... What needs to change? Tommy is out, Joe and I are now sharing. So another spare pitch available from that...
Isn't Charco out too? Is Gormley still coming?

There's a shop at the campsite which sells matches and charcoal for barbecuing - and each pitch has a fire pit so you don't need a disposable BBQ - but I don't know what else it sells. The only problem with finding a shop is the nearest place with shops after you've got to the campsite is Ditchling and I don't know how well-equipped with beer Ditchling is (though I think there's a farm shop which probably sells cider), so the Somerfield at Lindfield on the way may be a safer bet.
Unless you fancy riding over Ditchling Beacon to Brighton and back again. 'S only 8 miles...

Argh. I can't email the campsite AGAIN.
I'll PM gormley. -

i am fully paid up
You paid for that Rollup yet?
Perhaps we could kidnap him, and fit him in your bag (with the tent)
