    'roller for life

  • i want a 62, who has a 62?

how much are they at trade price?

  • ^ha

    No longer "LFL"?

  • thats like max's seatpost....

  • thats like max's seatpost....

Haha, looks like mine. Massive Thomson seatpost with an SLR perched on top.

    Keep up Vedders

    No longer "LFL"?

it's been retired. my fuji is doing well for work, but its just too damn small, its a pathetic 61, more like a 59. the surly seems more accurately sized.

  • How tall are you, Snoops?

I ride a 62cm and my seatpost is nearly as long as the one in that photo. I'm 6'5".

For the record the Steamroller is measured center to top so the frame looks alot smaller than a "62"

  • still looks bigger than a fuji 61 judging my the headtube length.

im 6'3", nothing has fit me as good as my Gitane Super Pista which was 62 c-c with a 21cm headtube. it was lovely, and i sold it because im a dick.

  • Got a photo? Sounds nice.

Yeah by the sounds of your height, you'll be good on a 62cm Steamroller.

  • FFS it looks like that fitted you a dream. Nice frame too.

  • i'm almost in tears. i think i'll have to go custom.

  • Same. I need aout 65cm ST and I can't find anything I like in a size like that. I better get saving.

  • why did you sell it? just needed the money at the time or something?

I'm still gonna use my fuji for work, i have a 58cm and it's pretty much identical to my 56cm steamroller. The 56cm fuji, has a toptube of 54! Fuji need to sort that shit out.

Anyway, yeah get a bigger fuji or a normal size 'roller. I love them both. I've had a bob jackson, bareknuckle, and tried out loads of high end frames but traded them all in for the fuji track and the steamroller. Awesome bikes

  • i sold it to go travelling, fell for that 'memories are worth more than material possessions' bullshit. total crap. nothing is worth more to a tall cyclist than a frame that fits.

i have the biggest fuji they do, i've had the pro and the track in the biggest sizes, both too small.

no companies do big frames anymore. not worth it for them i suppose. I thought condor did the potenza in a 63 but it turns out 61 is the biggest. i'll have to go custom.

back on topic though, i want a 4130 tig welded custom frame. does anyone do this? i dont want fancy tubing or lugs or anything, just a steamroller/fuji-ish frame but i can spec the tube lengths and geo...who does this? they would make loads as a low end custom framebuilder.

    Not a truer word said.

Have a look at this, big frame and exactly the type of thing I want... ignore the paint.

Check out their other stuff in the bicycles & framebuilding set too... also includes loads more pics of the bike I linked.

  • do they take orders? price list?

  • i have a 53cm roller and it is 53 ctc.

i wan to get mine clearcoated, that looks nice. i know this has been asked before, but strip paint, let it rust a bit, then clearcoat = no more rust? i mean, will the rust under the clearcoat contribute to more rust, or will it just stay as it is?

memories like the corners of my mind.....

  • do they take orders? price list?

No idea. But looks worth doing some research.

  • Get the bloody steamroller, they may be expensive for a standard tubing bike, but it is quite a good frame, assuming budget is your main concern.

4130 is not exactly standard tubing, especially the butted variety that Surly use.

Just had one built for me, will try and post some pics tomorrow, but i am a little far away from you to be able to help.
My advice is to try and find a BMX frame builder who is up for a challenge! The frame i got built is a prototype for my shop, but is in 4130, heat treated. With integrated headset, lovely welding, the only difference was a mid bb as it was all he had in the shop at the time.

    Thats stunning.

But as Kerley pointed out, you can go custom Ti with someone like XACD for under 800 notes. It means working things out for yourself, and taking a risk on a over-seas manufacturer. But it could well get you exactly what you want (dont know how much the Ti fork is though)

I've taken a bike that I like the design of, and a bike that I like the geometry of, and further tweeked them to fit. I've also selected tubing to suit my weight and riding style (I think, but this is tricky). Just need some money now.

Should come in at something like £700 F&F delivered

    Food for thought.

Not sure a custom frame needs to cost that. You can get a custom titanium frame and fork for that money.
