You're definitely not using the right search...
I never had any problems with BLB, actually they're the closest I can consider to be my LBS..
(*That I know, mostly people dislike Harry.Major, but that's a whole different matter)
Get your ass over there and see it for yourself, it's worth the trip and if not satisfied their backyard get's you in to the Bagel shop. win win.ok I definately will! problem is, I dont live anywhere near london (or england, for that matter), thats why I asked about their products...
I will be in amsterdam for the weekend, so I thought I might check that Pristine Shop out, and they sell BLB products (straps, bars, saddles etc) there.
what the heck, I'm just gonna get one of these bars and see for myself. thanks anyway!

they are just bars, don't over think it! I doubt they will snap so what else is there to worry about?
-
• #530
I would have thought that BLB's own "brand" parts can be bought as another brand for a fair bit less somewhere else.
-
• #531
I have some BLB chrome forks
Do I win £5?
-
• #532
They're quite nice, but a bit pricey. Best to wait for one of the sample sales.

"ok I definately will! problem is, I dont live anywhere near london (or england, for that matter), thats why I asked about their products..."
Then why are you on the london fixed wheel forum?
-
• #534
Same reason alot of non London dwellers are.

why not? it's not like there are any restrictions when you sign up as to where you live and what-not. don't really see the argument here...
btw, it's a good forum, one of the biggest fixed gear/ssp forums I know of, and I just love the bike porn thread ;)

sigh, what did I get myself into here... ok maybe I should have used the search. so I skimmed through a couple of threads and ok, apparently nobodys happy with their shop, the service, the employees etc.
but that doesnt necessarily mean that the products they sell are bad, too. so, I'll rephrase my question:
whar can you tell me about their products? i.e. acutal experiences, gained by acually using the products?
and again - actual help is much appreciated!
Wow.
Ok, well that's not true about no-one being happy with the shop, service, products. I've been in several times and they have been fairly helpful. If you want some bike parts, then go to the bike shop and buy some. If you want a nice chat and some conversation, then go to a pub / coffee shop with your mates.
Some things can be found cheaper else where, some things are at a decent price, like any where. They sell all sorts of components, their own branded stuff seems to hold up pretty well.
If you're serious about your build, then you will research each component for price / performance on an individual basis. Why not go in to the shop and find out for yourself?

BLB is just one of those shop that if you behave like a promiscuous trollop, they'll treat you like a promiscuous trollop.
I fucking love you, Ed... :D

There is no New Forest forum so London will have to do. I even go to London quite often, but don't stay for long as I don't want to end up like you lot :-)

Any bike shop own-brand components will be generic, mass produced and fairly unremarkable. When it comes to handlebars... it's a piece of fucking metal, dude.
-
• #542
when it comes to 'their' sprockets, they are an especially eggshaped piece of *erm metal. <get it? egg shaped as in -not round- 'doh!

Really? Thats a shame.
I would have thought that BLB's own "brand" parts can be bought as another brand for a fair bit less somewhere else.
Ha.
With the BLB bars they are of comparable weight, shape and quality to nitto, but half the price. They are designed by us, so shouldn't be availible anywhere else under a different name, but then nothings impossible. -
• #546
what is the price of BLB drop bars in store? cuz from the OP's link, they are £32 which is not half the price of £39?
and how much are the BLB hubs? cuz they appear to be exactly the same as zenith/formula/etc which can be had for £21.

Oi oi.
You need to get that bee out your bonnet mate.Drops are £29.99. I'd like to know where you get B123AA for £39. RRP is around £85, and we buy them in the shop for alot more than £39 at trade, so I am really really impressed if anyone can find a source to purchase the bars from and be able to sell them for that amount in this country and make any profit - online or otherwise. I thought hubjub were cheap at £69.50.
I said, if you'd care to have a look, "when it comes to bars", the hubs, as you well know, are Formula. Same as everyone, for around the same price.
As qckpckt says, own brand stuff isn't meant to revolutionise the world in terms of performance, it is intended to offer a cohesive range of fixed related components, with a particular goal of supplying the emerging fixed scene on the continent that has limited sources to attain other gear; and with the aim of providing a price point in store (ours and others) that allows people to not break the bank when building up a first fixed / single speed bike - and as internet stores always undercut physical shops there seems little point in ever comparing the two's prices.

sorry i have no bees, i didn't realise you were comparing to b123aa's, if so fair nuff, just in the link above i provided was to b125's at £39.
-
• #549
I wouldn't want to compare an aluminium bar to a steel bar and say the weight was comparable and the price was half.
-
• #550
of course not.
pics?
