  • That mechanic guy, McPhearson, is he the very same that is now down here in Southsea operating under Fixei as seen here :

  • Austronaut is another user with only 3 posts.

Hippy / VB, can you pelase investigate as it would appear that all three of the recommendations on here may be spam accounts.

  • Additional, Of Astronauts 3 posts made since joining they've all been on Foffa Threads.

  • James, fuck off and start a thread about Fixei somewhere else. This is about Foffa who are no longer associated with macpherson.

However, Foffa appear to only have members with 3 posts or less to provide information about them which, to me at least, reeks of falsification of customer satisfaction.

  • Removed by request.

  • haz you got hat?

  • Yep. It's dirty though. You're probably going to have to dry clean it.

  • Dirty ass hat? Yuck!

  • +1 should have said this instead of being a wise guy.

I assure you that I don't work for or have any interest in Foffa. I'm just a satisfied customer who's trying to give a them a little support. There seems to be a lot of unjustified negativity about them on lfgss.

The reason that I haven't posted much is that I mainly just read posts here when I'm bored or am looking for bike stuff to buy. The only time I've posted is when I've been asking about buying parts.

  • I know that some factories in Malaysia and Vietnam and Tunisia have rather poor working conditions. The majority of Taiwanese and Chinese factories are better. Also the quality of steel tends to be better from Taiwanese factories.

If the frames are sourced from a crappy factory where the staff are outsourced from some poverty stricken environment and paid shit wages, perhaps I am not be so keen to buy one.

Also, some factories such as the one in Tunisia are set up by places like Walmart to avoid having to pay duty on bicycles to Europe, I am opposed to the huge anti dumping duties to Europe but I am also opposed to large or small corporations bypassing it.

All very interesting, I had serious doubts that bicycles for sale in this country were made in "sweat shop" style factories. You expect an amount with clothing and everyday consumables but bikes are still pretty niche in the manufacturing world.

I didn't know about the Walmart thing.

  • I enjoy these threads. Never had a foffa, never ridden one. Saw one locked up on the street once.

It is however hugely entertaining, and I'm facinated enough to maybe even visit the shop.

as people who talk shit say

"there's no such thing as bad advertising."

  • ffs

my trainers dont have enough bounce if a couple of kids have not been maimed in their manufacture

  • +1

    Child labourers are fucking crybabies.

  • I've got to say, getting involved in the wants and needs of this forum, and by extension every rider worth a damn in London, is more than every other bike shop in this city bothers doing.

  • oh... wrong thread.

  • Also we've been working in the last few months to upgrade the calipers, levers, pedals and saddle so wait and see what the new Prima is gonna look like.

Like all things it takes ages to get it right!

At least is good that you are bothered to soldier through with this thread and taking in the critique.
    Time will tell the rest...

Lucky to have a job innit

  • Hi, I am real. Yes I've only posted a few times all about Foffa because I signed up specifically to give my opinion, and as I said previously, there is a lot of negativity on this forum.

If in doubt just go to the flipping shop and try out some bikes!

There's a lot of negativity on any forum. Which is good.
As for trying out, maybe I will one day, but I don't feel like doing so right now, as I don't need that kind of a bike.

  • And Wicksie. But as her bike was a freebie her opinion can probably be discounted to an extent.

To what extent Em? Because you are basically questioning her integrity. Had you been loaned/given a bike would you have compromised your integrity by giving it praise that you knew it didn't deserve? I'm guessing you are going to say "no, I wouldn't". And I would believe you; so I think Wicksie deserves the same respect.
BTW I have never met Wicksie and am not sponsored by her.

  • can someone check he isn't just someone's pseudonym set up to make this very argument^^^^

It's not necessarily conscious giving of undue credit. People go easy on freebies, a fact cosmetic companies exploit when doing "research". Not a reflection on integrity.

  • Well, I am crediting Wicksie with enough self-awareness to avoid that. Anyway, it's not important really, Em is not having a dig like some others have had a dig at her in the past.

  • Forum dad to the fucking rescue... slow handclap

I want to have a dig at someone. Who's in the doghouse today?
