What's the easiest/ best way to get rid of a CBF125.
Been sat unused in my garage for 18months, cosmetic crash damage on the left side (needs new fairing and indicators)
No MOT (been SORN for the last year) -

4000rpm ish - giving it a little, rolling on - 40-50MPH - motor seems like it over revs but bike doesn't respond in speed - had clutch lever replaced approx 6-7 weeks ago
clutch slipping?

I've never known 'waterproof' boots stay waterproof for long, but my Gore-tex ones did.

?

Ha! Probably accurate...

Cheers. I guess in the grand scheme of things and as a % of the boots it's manageable.
I tried on a couple of Dianese boots. The Gore-tex ones are good vfm but still didn't quite hit the mark.

:)
Seriously though... What does it owe you? Pick a value, check autotrader to see if it's vaguely realistic then stick it up for sale for a little under that.

I'd suggest calling up those we-buy-any-bike type dealers. The sort that will collect and then part out.
Otherwise gumtree listing + "here is a project that I just haven't had time for."
-

... Or, you could buy a cheap set of indicators off eBay for a few quid, fit them, and then get an MOT. That will double the value of the bike instantly. An honest listing on eBay later, and you'll be quids-in!

Coil gets hot, guess they all do, but unpleasantly hot after 5-10 minutes of use.
Today went through everything that I've touched and not touched recent, cleaned the hell out of every electrical connector then buttered up with dielectric grease, inc CDI/ECU and fuel pump connectors .
New plug, another cap from the box, recharged battery and same behaviour. Spoke to a few mechanics who are used to these bikes and the common theories are....
Duff new cheap coil is the fault, as it heats up there is a short between the coils inside.
Ignition pickup in the stator housing or cable leading to it is failing, again heat related.
CDI/ECU, but £350, so rather set fire to the bike then spend that kind of money on the thing.Annoying as was all setup to sell this thing on when it was running 100% a month ago, now I've started using it again for work the £££ is just mounting up. Bum.

Sounds like - if it's cable it's an easy fix - should be accessed via a cover on the left side of the engine usually - youtube should help.

I hadn't realised how bad the bmw situation was getting but papping 'cafe racer' into ebay brings up shitloads of butchered beemers,
-
• #9439
Sad that some bits and frame shortening the cafe-ers are doing can't be easily replaced but good if it's breathing life back into a motorcycle that was languishing under a tree in someone's garden.
On the distinguished gentlemens ride last year there were a few sympathetic butcherings. -

Seems like the fixie equivalent of removing braze-ons from a "dumpster find".
The first one looks pretty cool, but so many are far to chopped down with no real thought to the overall aesthetic. If you're hell-bent on converting/fucking up a bike, at least put some thought in.
The only consideration on a lot of them is what the shortest possible space an arse can sit on.
(grumpy start to the day)

Had always fancied an old r65/x to r75 type of BMW, but always been worth something, so then settled for maybe a late 70S early 80s r80/r100 etc but because of the chop shop craze they are all either going for over the odds (imo) or the good ones are being held on to until the craze does down a bit.

Agreed. Too many idiots have watched Mad Max films and decided their bike will look great in some sort of new "Post Apocalyptic Street Fighter" guise. Far too many early Fireblades have gone the same way ... a travesty really!! On the positive side, if you're hanging onto an original bike it will go up in value.

Full fat UK test now in hand. Took forever! 6 lessons, mod 1 and 2 took full 5 months to get through, even in winter an with a brand new test centre opened uo to alleviate the ques. Feel mega sorry for those starting their journey to bike license at this time of year.
Just got to reassemble bike now and get a fresh mot on it

Finally made a start on project bash plate.
The plan is to use a standard triumph bash plate I was given with the bike and
- paint black
- Glue mesh behind the holes, also black
- Make alu oil cooler plate to match
I have an alu plate the same thickness as OEM plate, which I'm still working out patterns for - thoughts are either to have one set of 2 X 1, 1" holes at the bottom and then a gap exposing the cooler with the same curves.

I was pretty pleased with how well the rattle can worked... Until I dropped it on the grass.
Pic mid sand back where you can see the grass patterning.

I did mine almost 15 years ago, before hazard perception even came in, I feel sorry for anyone that's done it since!

There are some brilliant bikes like the changeling and future bike.
Does anyone have any experience of Gore-Tex boots vs their non-Goretex counterparts?
I’m trying to weigh up whether to go for the Gore-Tex version of the TCX S-Speed.
standard = £170
regular waterproof/breathable = £190
Gore-tex = £220
An extra £20 for the waterproof version make sense for commuting. But another £30 / £50 makes it quite pricey. Will I actually notice the difference?
