I want to do my DAS License in the next couple of months. Any recommendations of places South East?

Ta. I've emailed them...

these guys were fine for my cbt http://www.aceridertraining.co.uk/
but I'm sure DAS probably requires a bit more quality instructing, so I can't comment on that

Ahh the joy of new tyres and a freshly serviced motorcycle. Had a fabulous time playing on Glendora Mt Road yesterday - wobbly legs and achey hands today. Bit hot though for full, unperforated Crowtrees!

ha! with my helmet visor cracked open at bottom and the engine at a certain rev range I get a weird combination of engine noise and wind noise that sounds just like emergency services coming up behind in the distance - has happened a couple of times and I've been checking my mirrors to eventually realise nothing is coming along!

So I am considering getting my motorbike licence, any recommendations for a first bike? I don't want to spend more than about 3k, will be doing mainly commuting, motorway miles. Prefer the kind of old, retro, rocker style bikes - rather than crazy race replica stuff. Cheers

maybe it looks better in real life. maybe it was a real wrecker and doing this was better than it going to the scrap heap.
and how it could look

Word.
This veneration of the dregs of 70s UJMs can't end soon enough. There were some cool bikes made back then...plastic maggots, any iteration of the superdream, CB360/250s are not amongst them. They were shit then, and no amount of sepia-tinged, burnishing can make them any less excremental now.
In more interesting news, my chum is going to let me take a spin on his 1947 Enfield at some point. Rather looking forward to it.

CBT on Saturday. Looking forward to it but be weather's meant to be a bit rubbish. Not sure whether to get a 125 for a while or just to do DAS during my annual leave and start on a bigger bike. I guess I'll see how the 125 feels on the CBT and the training centre give you a shot on one of their er6s at the end to try and entice you into booking a DAS week.

BMW R80, safe choice. I've had one for over 10 years. Anything else worthwhile for that price would probably be 80's/90's Japanese.

You'll get a nice BMW R80 for £3k. I heard that the r80/7 was the last of the "no expense spared BMWs". I saw a really good example go for £2k a few months ago. I got my 1985 R80 mono for £1250 last November. They are fun bikes. Unbelievably smooth once you get it off the shaky idle. And quiet too.

Bad Science: Those things are epic. There is a moped and a 125cc version available. Great looking bikes. It's still a lot bigger then the monkey which is also available in 125cc

Some bastard clipped the Dommie when it was parked up knocking it over and denting the tank. They of course drove away and ignored what they'd done.
Does anyone know someone cheap in London that could fill and respray it for me? I know the exact paint code. Thanks.

CBT done today. Absolutely loved it with the exception of the two lorry driver who just wouldn't shut up about road rules for lorries. DAS and tests all booked up so hopefully I'll have a full licence but the end of the month.

It was a suzuki van van. Strange little bike. The seat is practically on the ground. I've got another 4 hours on a 125cc on then 12th before the first 650cc lesson on the 14th.

Ah nice. Not that you are, but I found before riding a 500cc for DAS quite intimidating, then after not long it just gives you confidence. Let us know how you get on.

I used to love doing my DAS practise on an ER5, as when I went home in the evening my CG125 felt like a bmx!
I see a guy pass me on one of those on the way home in the evenings. Nice looking bike but very small - I'd look like a gorilla on it.
