  • That's awesome!

  • Max deserves 'max'imum points for the sub-frame. It is a thing of industrial beauty, and something the craze for "bobbing" should learn from. A good day, and I'm glad it's ended in a win.

  • Seat looks uncomfortable.

  • Looks ace. Does it still have pillion pegs, or is it a solo machine now?

  • Seat looks uncomfortable.

    Is that a Truimph seat?

  • Yes to pillion pegs and Triumph seat.

  • the current bike, had it for 6 years now and cant part with it. Does everything well and the best moto therapy bar none.

    Nutter.
Went to Barcelona for the motoGP on this.
Had to sell it, hospital or jail.

    Thanks man!

  • Meh....gone to look at two old Bonnevilles now. The first was a 1970, honest little bike, ran nicely but was tatty and needed a proper cosmetic refresh. I probably couldn't have lived with it without a strip and rebuild....

Second a 79, cosmetically immaculate, same price with an undocumented engine rebuild. Felt more vibey than it should, took a friend that knows all these old nails along for a look and he thought the same. Could be out of balance carbs, could be something considerably worse. Ended up passing....

    Search continues....

  • When did they shut the BSA factory? Cranks were much worse after that.

  • Dunno - bit earlier I think? Might look at a 71 Trophy later in the week if I can be arsed to drive to the inland empire...

  • I was walking down the Holloway road to get some washing up liquid and saw one of the new Norton Domiracers (worth £26K!)on the back of a lorry.
Time slowed down as it passed with the hot sun reflecting off the polished aluminium petrol tank. I will never forget that moment.

  • In contrast to something memorable like that, I'm test riding quite possibly the ugliest bike ever made tomorrow. It's an automatic motorcycle dressed up as a scooter, de-tuned to give 80mpg and 100mph, and it has no redeeming angle that makes it look nice. Brain-dead white goods, for people who have given up;

  • You trading up (across?), Richard?

  • Guy's Pikes Peak bike

    490bhp on high boost apparently.

Just what do you do with that much power on a motorbike?

It's over 2000bhp/ton with rider? Guy Martin said it lifts the front wheel on power in top gear. I know he's a good rider but I can't even imagine riding that.

  • Just what do you do with that much power on a motorbike?

    Try to avoid the edge?

  • That'd be hard enough on a track. Is Pikes not quite a lot of fire road and loose surfaces?

    Em, good luck?

    B.

  • There is a lot of tarmac on Pikes Peak, but not everyone sticks to it

Quite possibly. I have been doing too many 200 mile days on the SH300 to ignore the need for something bigger, and the mileage I need to cover is about to get greater. I took it from Surbiton to Guildford, which arrived quicker than I wanted it to, and back around the Hammersmith roundabout to see what 'traffic' was like. It's rubbish in town, but that's not surprising given the canal barge wheelbase and huge weight figure. The revelation was the gearbox. Automatic normally, but with manual override at the flick of a switch, so if you want it to behave and stay in second between the cars, it will, and it was completely intuitive to use. As a bike it has drawbacks, (tiny under seat storage, small screen, screw and locknut valve adjusters) but some impressive advantages as well. Dry feet, hits the ton, does 85mpg at 70, and will never be stolen because it's such a looker.

They just can't make enough documentaries about Road Racing....and the Dunlops? Legend...I still can remember sitting with a friend one afternoon at his mums house with a borrowed VHS copy of V4 Victory and how my jaw hit the floor at the insanity of it all...Awesome.

  • Erm...

I guess this belongs in here.

  • I just saw a bloke on one of these.

Surprisingly nice looking up close, and dirt cheap, might be a fun little commuter.

  • They are a nice looking bike. Basically a Chinese copy of the lovely little Honda Dream 50.
