congrats and welcome to the club.

    I'm picking up a Honda pcx125:

The CBT itself was very easy. Really enjoyed it and the instructor was excellent. I'll get more road experience over the next month or two and then do my full license.

    well done!

Metropolis Motorcycles in Vauxhall. The instructor (a guy called Simon) was fantastic.

  • Did you buy your scooter from there as well? Have you managed to get the 2014 model? I see they removed that hump on the seat that taller people used to get frustrated with. I wouldn't mind a gander when you've picked it up.

  • Bought it from there. It's a '14 plate but I'm pretty sure it's the older model. Doesn't bother me as, at 5ft 9, no one is ever going to accuse me of being tall!!

There's a Thai website (ooer) that deals with custom aftermarket parts like seats. You can get quite a few nice ones without the hump. If it does end up bothering me, I'll pick one up.

Re: taking a look... I'll pm you when I pick it up.

  • Looking forward to tomorrow, I've just finalised insurance and sent the papers to the ktm dealer so they can tax my Duke.

Nice one, thank you. I'd like to pick your brains about what deal you got too.

  • any thoughts on tyre upgrades? the bike came with Dunlop Sportmax, but they seem to get decent reviews - is it chasing after indefinable improvement unless I have to change them?

    How old are they?

    What bike?

  • not sure they were on it when I got it at 4500 ish miles - second owner - it's a 2012 ER6

  • Squared off?

Look at getting the static sag set correct and then used the less used roads to hoon about using the edges of your tyres.

  • I've got one of these that I never ended up using.

If anyone's interested drop me a PM with an offer.

  • @soul they did tell you that if you pass your test on a scooter, you can only ride scooters didnt they?

just in case you ever want to move on up.

  • Yup. I'm happy with that. It's a good place to start and as it's purely a tool or white good rather than a nice machine, I can't see myself wanting anything with gears.

    We'll see though.

  • Any experience with Kawasaki ZZR600?
I've seen one with ridiculously low miles and have an urge for some fairings.
anything with that many Zs must be good, right?

    ZZZZZZZ

Er bike didn't change much during its whole run, just fairing colours. Usual things to look at on a low mileage bike. Valve clearances are a pain to da as they need the cams out to replace the shims. But its like any 600 they are all much of a muchness. ZZR were cheaper as they weren't the honda or the suzuki.

  • Maybe a little cheesy

Positively fondue old chap. Christ, I've got greasy fingers from clicking the link.

The only one of those videos that's remotely tolerable is the Circle Jerks one (actually I really liked that.)

Youtube needs more quality bike content. I like Jamie Robinson's Motogeo vids but a lot of this other stuff takes itself way too seriously.

I want Roadkill, but with bikes. Stuff like...this episode, we're going to enter the Mint 500 on a CX500 we pulled out of a canal.....or this episode, we're going to supercharge a C90 on model aircraft fuel and go drag racing...Gonzo mini moto racing around a local shopping centre...

Stuff with real everyday application, y'know?

  • Roadkill is awesome.

    "Best day at work ever".

  • Back to bikes though, picked up my Duke 390 on Wednesday. What a blast. Could have come home along the A9 but thought I'd go back roads to help with breaking engine in. The bikes tiny but that just makes it so easy to chuck it around. Like a motorised bmx or something!
