Just witnessed an RTA where a motorcyclist was taken out by a van turning right. Bike was filtering on the outside of traffic in the same direction as the van.
Looked dramatic, I feared the guy would be bashed up but he seemed more or less ok. Stopped to see if anything was needed but they were ok to sort it out between themselves.
The biker volunteered that "it was my fault" which I thought was a bit hasty but I guess he was in shock.
It made me wonder to what degree the onus is on the van driver to check his mirror before manoeuvring vs the rider to be watching for indicators and wheel movements?
Rider was wearing a motorcycle jacket which I guess saved him some nasty road rash.

Hopefully didn’t affect you too much. Been a lot of incidents and deaths around here the past couple months. Glad this time the biker was okay enough to say a stupid thing.

I actually rather fancy a kitted 883 rather than a proper 1200 because of the shorter gearing! It would never be a bike for motorway miles anyway so the quicker acceleration would be preferred!

It lives, and seems to run pretty well. Leaks oil in an arterial manner though. Lots more work to do, but quite encouraging.

Another fantastic bike in your collection.

Thanks, I was relieved that I didn't have to dial 999.
I had a good look at the guy once he got his helmet off and his eyes looked ok. I'm sure he will be full of pain in the morning but luckily no lasting damage evident.

That tank reflection is the cherry on top which makes the proverbial chef kiss out loud!

I'm pretty happy with the tank. I've not mounted it properly yet but it's Aluminum, handmade in India and shipped over for $300 bucks. I couldn't get one painted here for that!

Anyone bought from superbike factory? They have some shocking reviews but still manage to get up to 4.7 out of 5....
-
• #26037
They're all over Ebay mate - for just about any British / Japanese classic you can think of. Steel ones are even cheaper.

Some of the road tyres of the time weren't that great either

Biker is a fucking idiot.
Onus is on the van driver, we can filter in the UK.
Actually as it is biker/cyclist maiming and killing them rarely comes with a penalty.

Really good. Rear suspension was a little lackluster but overall I really liked it and I clocked some decent miles on it. Even got good mpg. They still feel like a sportsbike but the lower seat meant a lot of weight was taken off the wrists and lower back.

Just get a Buell FFS, they are brilliant.
EDIT: If you disagree you are wrong. Will fight to the death anyone that disagrees that buells are the bestest use for a Harley engine

There's just something about an SS exhaust on a Harley that doesn't feel right.

Any interest before they go to the Bay?
Hood camo cargo jeans with para-aramid lining size 34/34 (no armour pockets). Lined on the seat and back of legs down to level with the bottom of the leg cargo pockets and all the way down the front of the leg to approx 8" from the hem. Very good condition, no rips scuffs tears, been in zero offs! Perfect for your anti-social triple bad man outings!
Say £50 posted?

Tried to , they didn’t have the bike at the shop as advertised in fact the shop it was supposed to be at didn’t exist anymore - useless and then kept ringing me to try and sell me bikes.
Harley sportster is a great bike, did sw Ireland on my 883 last year from London, no issues with it. EBay bolt on screen for motorways. Best use for a Harley engine.

Got back from 10 days away last night.
Had a couple of data tool alerts and alarm triggers when I was away. Had the neighbour come in and take a look but he couldn't get the bike to turn on.
Tried last night and it's properly dead. Battery gone. Tried a LiPo specific Optimate directly to the battery overnight and it didn't even register it as a battery. Gone back to BMW for a new battery. Hopefully in time for commuting to work next week.

Got to give BMW their credit.
Called BMW roadside assistance at 7pm last night. Motorbike logistics turned up at 10am on the dot this morning, after calling first and sending me a tracking link for the driver.
Took it to my preferred BMW dealerships in Welwyn Garden City and they've replaced the battery immediately. I've just got back from picking it up.
Cost: £0
I enjoyed it. Quite drawn out though so you're lucky it's finished and you don't have to wait.
The 1200 upgrade was interesting. I don't think he says what he paid for the bike, but it's pitched as though it came out cheaper than sourcing a 1200 from the outset.
