sellers who are that confident "it will sail through" generally offer to have it MOT'd for you if you pay the cost.
ask him if he would do that for you.technically it would not be in your name .......... yet.
as other have said riding to test centre for pre-booked test is okay.

OF course it's not yours until the DVLA have the V5 and your cash is in his bank account
so you should be ok -

Its a grey area but remember that there is only one plate and that is at the rear.

Good point ANPR is front facing. It would take an actual copper, and as long as it looks and sounds legal and you ride in a normal manner why would they stop you?
I had a call from my insurers. I'm getting my lovely Thruxton back tomorrow!

@mechanical_vandal - if it helps, the other week I took the Kat for its MOT (sans tax) to a test centre in Clapham but was turned away due to them being busy. I then rode the bike back to Peckham via my sister's in Hampshire about 100 miles away because it was such a lovely day.

Since I got my Triumph back, with new left side engine cover and gear shift, it's been leaking oil from the shifter when parked.
Is this just because they have overfilled it or have they fucked something up?
The shaft, case, and seal ought to be new. -

Check the level then ;)
Is there a missing o ring or something?
Is it a bonnie?

The shaft, case, and seal ought to be new.Usually if the gasket is not a new one, it will leak. However after engine work it can leak for a few days anyway. Give everything a good wipe and have a look. Bring it back to the mechanics if you can so they can check properly.

Every new gasket I have fitted has only leaked if I installed the gasket wrong. Or the mating surface were very out of shape. Paper gaskets are usually a compress to take the differences in trueness out of the two mating surfaces. More modern things use an o ring.

Sorry to hear that, rebook and then carry on.
It is hard as they do not state what is a hazard, as pointed out I saw loads more that there were. Such as never being sure that a car has seen me, or a ped is not going to run out in to the road.

how?
hazard perception is basic observation
-
• #2596
a hazard is defined as anything that may make you adjust your speed or position

plenty of oil
It's a Bonnie (well a Thruxton, which has sort-of-rearsets, but that bit's the same)The leaky bit is the gearchange shaft itself, which is a rubber oil seal rather than a paper thing.
I'll give them a call. I reckon they've fucked the seal up when they installed it.

That looks like a double lipped seal (inner side and outerside) and its not been fitted correctly.

Doesn't work like that, what the program defines as a hazard and what I did were quite different. Such as a car at a junction on a bike i would change position to give me more of an escape zone but not for the test.

i seem to remember clicking for things like that, and I passed it
Yeah buying it (so long as it's not significantly different to how it's described.)
Yeah suppose I could sort insurance now.
