Hi all,
Here is my motorbike... It's old, I love it, don't use it very often because I'm cycling everywhere...
Except the collectors of that exhaust were rotten and I had to change it. (I still have the silents, almost perfect condition if that can interest anyone...) Anyway now I have a complete exhaust set by Remus, sounds lovely, and not too loud... Here:
*PLEASE HELP...*
I have a problem with my rear wheel at the moment, unfortunately that motorbike is very rare in the UK so people don't know too much about it. I spoke to my old Suzuki guy in France, but he never heard of such a problem.Basically, where the shaft connects to the rear wheel. There is a connection plate fixed onto the wheel with 6 bolts, there are silent blocks at the back of that plate, at the center of the wheel. Some of these bolts come loose or their head break I don't know, and as you can imagine, that loose bit of metal in that tight space between the shaft and the wheel makes a right mess. It happened to me again lately, I removed the rear wheel and took that loose bolt off. 2 in total are missing. I am taking the bike to my mechanic soon, but it is the 3rd time he repairs that thing.
Anyone with experience of that would be providential!
Cheers
Loic

Joey Dunlop was once asked why he drank so much, his answer "Would you go round that course sober?"

Speaking of shaft drive, I remember riding one of these in the 80s....in purple.
Kawasaki K1300, flat 6, prepped by French outfit Godier-Genoud, heavy as fuck. An absolute scream

Have you asked on the suzuki owners club website? There is a forum open to all, also might be worthwhile to ask on old school suzuki. If you have a problem I can post for you.

Thanks! I requested registration to a US forum dedicated to my motorbike and intend to send them pictures of my problem to see if any of them experienced that before... Since I know from talking to you before that you know about motorbikes, I might as well show you the detail of it (I took pictures when I took the wheel off)
LHS picture shows the wheel and its center part where the shaft drive "spindle" connects. At the back of that, there are some silent blocks. There are normally 6 bolts to the surround, here 2 are missing. I did not notice when I lost the 1st one, I was probably going fast, it probably desintegrated, as I found rusty dust in there. The second one came off while I was going slow in town and I noticed immediately that somthing was going wrong, because this happened to me twice already in the last 5 years: I knew what to expect. I was wondering if the silent blocs had became harder and had shrunk with age (bike is from 1991!), creating some kind of play in there, puting the bolts under extra stress...? Saying that you cannot feel any play by hand. The wheel is also perfectly true.
RHS picture shows the hidden side of the shaft drive. You can see the most protruding bolts head have been like filed by the loose bolt being shaken in that tiny space...

Go get some training and dont be tempted to ride it illegally, no matter how much you want to . You cant just hop on a bike and ride it, well you can but it will probably be a one way trip to A & E.
Nice machine though

You are kidding right? NO rear suspension, except some coiled springs under the saddle?
Was the bike made to simply eventually just shake itself apart?
*truly bewildered*
You have much to learn big man - its a hardtail, and the lack of suspension really isnt a problem if its designed properly.
Besides it originally had no springs at all, and just a metal pan to sit my ass on

nice bike dron. get your C.B.T. compulsory basic training certificate then either get a cheap 125 to ride around on for practice or ask a friend to pillion you to a car park where you can practice on this bike.
this might be bad advise but at the moment it makes sense in my head and that's what i would do. somebody more experienced might give better guidance. -

there is space to poodle around on my street. and to get the licence i think i will train on a 35o so i think i should be able to learn to handle it.

@ dron - the GT250 was one of the bikes we used to ride at 17 on a provisional licence. Never ridden the 500, but I know they're nice bikes. Depending on your age and what licence you have, you could do the direct access course to get a full bike licence. Basically one day CBT, three days' tuition and a test. Lynx knows about this stuff, so maybe get in touch with him.
As if the Police get to cruise around on those badboys!
There is only one true Police Motorbike though...
