  • Asked this in another thread but may as well try this one too, any of you guys know of anyone who will retrofit an EBB around London? And a rough idea of cost?

sounds like a lots of work for a frame builder, taking the old one out, cutting down tubes, putting a new one in, purchasing the EBB internal shell, respray - far more money than its worth, just get an exccentric bb instead - the adjustment is small and they cost a fortune but probably less than butchering a perfectly good frame

  • o.k who knows the thread with the single speed champs that are on next spring?
have utfs but cant find it and want to get some dates in the diary for events,
maybe some of you will be up for it?

the european champs are held at the forest of dean in april but the uk champs are in wales next year, as far as i know entrys for that have not been announced, however the entrys for the euro champs are very close to sold out for UK entrants so get in quick! - i can check the roster for you if you like

Yeah I thought it'd be a lot of money, but I was thinking I could get a decent old MTB for around £200 of ebay and sell the crap of it that I don't need to recoup some of the costs, I haven't had any experience with frame builders but surely they wouldn't charge £130 to cut down the tubes and stick a new shell in there.

Charliethebikemonger used to sell them. Might be worth asking him if he could source you one. Costs £££s though.

The inbred is £150, that BB was around £130 if I remember correctly. Doesnt seem worth it.

Yeah I was having a look at those, couldn't find any confirmation of them accepting an EBB though, thanks guys I appreciate the help btw.

They dont, because they dont need them as they have horizontal drop-outs.
US Ebay is fantastic for cheap SS MTB frames. The US is just very far away :(

  • Ahh righty I was only looking at the one that had vertical dropouts, silly bugger.

Loads of those are in the US though.

The Love/Hates are sexy (26" wheels) I think MrSmyth said they were getting more in.
The Singulars are also very sexy, as Tilover (and a fair few other of late) can confirm.
An older version of the Salsa El mariachi is on special on Charliethebikemonger's site.

If you want to ride in the 2010 SSEC you'll need to register your interest by emailing:

    iwanaridethessecbecause@googlemail.com

In 10 words or less you'll have to complete the following sentence

i wana ride the ssec because ..................................

Also you will need to state your** name and country

give it a go and no doubt sheldon will whip you an email back quickly and let you know where you stand

I certainly am - lived there for years and my family are still there - only been gone two years. Looking reet good for a snowy christmas then...

  • get yourself back and come for a beer

Yeah definately mate - I might be back over the festive period so I'll drop you a note on here if I do... may not have a bike with me but we can sink some beers anyhoo

  • Coming a bit late to this thread, but I'd really reccomend the SIngular Swift frame. Very easy to run SS or 1x9, which was enough to get me over some big welsh mountains during a 150 mile adventure race, and can be run 3x9 with a bit more effort. Looks lovely, rides amazingly and I think is better value for money than Surly frames. I had a rigid fork for a while but have to say I prefer it with a suspension fork, probably because I don't choose the flowingest lines or something. Not toatlly sure that 29ers make much sense for people below about 5'10" though and would probably look at a 69er if I was shorter.

  • sorry cant help with that ^^
have emailed for entry of ssec, waiting to hear that I am in......
getting a new Gary Fisher Paragon frame to play with as a replacement for cracked 4 year old Montare-mm, new year- new 29er bike.

  • Hey do any of you know of a cheaper way of doing this http://www.dreambike.com/69.htm (scroll down a little bit on the left).

I have 26" forks that I want to run a 29/700c in, ie the v mounts are too low. The company above sell a little converter plate but it's pretty expensive. It seems like such a simple thing that someone must do one cheaper?

  • interesting site^ fraid that have never come across the sitution you have, is there any way of bodging it? having a metalworking friend copy what they selling?
often those small bits of metal are just that. small bits of metal....repriced.

  • andy.w parker doesnt really give a description of that, does it do what i need it to do? if so, thanks.
