Good point. What about guards incase the chain jumps off?
No guarantees there I'm afraid :-)
What I would recommend is finding a gear ratio that allows you to run the tensioner in the pushing up position, rather than the pushing down you currently have.
Like this..
This would give you a better chain wrap around the cog & has the added bonus of looking a bit tidier too.

Just got these today. Next I might order Pillar spokes for those. Maybe PSR TB 2015 to save few grams weight.
What would be some good "all around" tyres? Bigger than better, so I prefer 2.4". Also they need to work ok on tubeless. -

Hans Dampf up front and a Nobby Nic in the rear. Both tubeless ready and 2.35".

Personally, I like most offerings from Maxxis. WTB make a couple of good ones too. I find Continental can be a bit hit & miss with mtb treads.
I'm using a Maxxis Ardent 2.25 front, & a Crossmark 2.1 rear which I'm liking. The Ardent comes in a 2.4, though most tyres of that size get a little heavy.
Schwalbes have a good reputation, particularly the Racing Ralph 2.4 ( quite light for the size ). I haven't tried them myself though, as they always seem a bit pricey.
The "good all round tyre" is the holy grail of mtbers. It just doesn't exist :-)
As Alkali suggested, an aggressive tread up front & something faster out back is usually a winner.

also bigger up front, smaller in the rear

Posted on the "any question" thread as well, but may make more sense here. Wants a decent fender and rack combo for my Karate Monkey (commuting and touring - 28-38ish tyres).
Ideas?

Hmm.. Which years model? Running v brakes or discs?

Mini-Vs, which is not ideal, but running Soras so need short pull (or but some travel agents).
Older model - before they had rack mounts (just mud-guard eyelets). But,when it comes to the rack, I'm either going to just deal (P-clips and double up on the mud-guard braze-ons) or get some brazed on.

As you don't have the disc brake compatibility issues, then I suppose the boring answer would be SKS chromoplastic guards & Tubus rack.
The exiting answer would be...................?

tortec velocity rack, cheaper.

Was thinking of the SKS Commuter fenders. A bit cheaper, lots of coverage. Anyone tried them?
-
• #3514
I'd normally recommend the Bluemels as a cheaper option, though I see Wiggle have the Chromos cheaper at the moment.
I've not tried the commuter version, not sure how effective that single strut is?

Nowt wrong with the Tortec. I've been using the expedition one for years with no problems.

Reviews say they (commuters) split very easily. I'll pass. May try and grab some chromos on price match from Cycle Surgery.

Could use a few more spacers...
Wouldn't happened if it's not slack.
